Maryland woman faces 13 charges in crash that killed Vikings rookie Khyree Jackson

The woman involved in the July 6, 2024 car crash that killed Vikings rookie Khyree Jackson, along with two of his former high school teammates, was arrested on Thursday after a grand jury indicted her on 13 counts, including DUI and criminally negligent vehicular manslaughter.

Prince George’s County prosecutors announced that Cori Clingman had been charged nearly seven months after the ᴅᴇᴀᴅly crash took the lives of Jackson, Isaiah Hazel and Anthony Lytton Jr.

She remained in custody on Thursday and was scheduled to have a bond hearing on Friday.

Clingman is facing a maximum of 30 years in prison.

“Each of their lives was special, important, and a tragic loss for their families and our community,” Prince George’s County State’s Attorney Aisha Braveboy said at a news conference on Thursday. “These were three young men who had gotten it right in life, who had amazing, bright futures ahead of them. But on July 6th, they were taken away from all of us.”

The car crash occurred around 3:14 a.m. on July 6 when the Infinity Q50 that Clingman was alleged to have been driving rammed into a Dodge Charger — carrying Jackson, Hazel and Lytton — and a Chevrolet Impala.

The Charger went off the road and struck multiple stumps, according to Maryland State Police.

Jackson and Hazel were pronounced ᴅᴇᴀᴅ at the scene and Lytton later died at the hospital.

WJLA-TV reported that the cars had been driving together while street racing prior to the crash.

Details about the investigation remained limited, but Braveboy did say that Clingman had a BAC “at least” above the legal limit of 0.08 percent.

“This was a horrific tragedy that should not have occurred,” Braveboy said. “This just starts, really, our fight to get justice for these three young men, their families, Wise High School, the NFL, and this entire community.”

All three victims were football players, with Hazel having played at Maryland and Charlotte and Lytton having spent time with the Florida State and Penn State’s football programs.
