Brave NFL fan places huge $1.3m bet on Chiefs-Bills AFC Championship game

One confident NFL gambler has staked $1.3million on the Kansas City Chiefs to beat the Buffalo Bills in Sunday’s AFC Championship game.

The two bitter foes meet at Arrowhead Stadium with a spot in the Super Bowl on the line.

Josh Allen and the Bills have already inflicted defeat on the Chiefs this season, which was one of just two losses the reigning champions suffered all season. The other came at Denver in Week 18 when a number of starters were rested.

But the Chiefs are perennial playoff winners and are just two wins away from becoming the first team in NFL history to win a third-straight Super Bowl.

They also eliminated the Bills from the playoffs last season in Buffalo during a dazzling run that also saw them knock off the Baltimore Ravens on the road.

And that playoff prowess has inspired one fan to bet big on Patrick Mahomes and his teammates, putting down $1.3m on the Chiefs to punch their ticket to the Super Bowl in New Orleans on February 9.

Fox News reported that the wager was placed on the Chiefs moneyline (-130) on Caesars Sportsbook. If it wins, the total payout will be $2.3m.

History is on the Chiefs’ side, too. Three of Buffalo’s past four playoffs have ended against the Chiefs, starting with a 38-24 loss at Kansas City in the AFC championship game after the 2020 season.

A year later at Kansas City came a 42-36 thrilling overtime loss in which Buffalo squandered a three-point lead in the final 13 seconds of regulation.

And then there was last year, when Tyler Bᴀss missed a 44-yard field goal attempt wide right with 1:43 left in a 27-24 loss against the visiting Chiefs.

Skip Bayless, however, believes the contest has already been rigged in favor of the Chiefs so that Taylor Swift remains around the sport.

Swift, who watched the Chiefs alongside Caitlin Clark last weekend, has been a fixture at Kansas City games since her and Travis Kelce began dating in the summer of 2023.

And Bayless believes that the NFL will rig the AFC Championship to get Swift at the Super Bowl again, after she watched Kelce and his team defeat the 49ers last year.

‘The memo will go out, just as it did last week, ‘make sure Taylor Swift makes it to New Orleans for the Super Bowl,’ he said on his eponymous show.

‘Without her, the NFL loses millions and millions of viewers who will tune in, mostly to see what she’s wearing up in that Superdome luxury box.’

‘So Mahomes, teetering though he might, must be propped up. Must be protected by the referees, just the way he was Saturday at home against the Texans,’ Bayless continued.

‘This is the Taylor Swift effect. She is a one-woman ratings juggernaut. ‘Protect her! Prop her up! Award her boyfriend’s team with phantom penalties. Get them to New Orleans! The NFL needs the Swifties. Protect ’em! Prop ’em up! Make sure the Chiefs advance.’
