Mark Andrews’ stunning late drop, awful fumble destroyed Ravens’ playoff dreams

Mark Andrews had a chance to force overtime. Instead, he suffered one of the most crushing moments of his career in the Ravens’ loss to the Bills that ended their season in the AFC divisional round.

The Ravens тιԍнт end dropped a pᴀss in the end zone that would have converted the two-point attempt to tie the score at 27 with 1:31 left in the game.

Lamar Jackson has orchestrated an eight-play, 88-yard touchdown drive to pull Baltimore within two.

But disaster struck when Jackson rolled right and saw Andrews, 29, open for a pᴀss on the two-point conversion.

The pᴀss went right to Andrews, but the three-time Pro Bowler couldn’t hold onto the ball as he fell into the end zone resulting in an incomplete pᴀss.

“Oh, the ball was dropped! He had the two-point conversation in his hands,” CBS play-by-play man Jim Nantz exclaimed on the broadcast.

The Ravens attempted an onside kick in one last attempt to get the ball back, but the Bills recovered and they were able to run out the clock.

It was one of two tough moments for Andrews in the fourth quarter, with the other coming with a little more than eight minutes left in the game and the Ravens driving down the field.

Jackson hit Andrews with a 16-yard pᴀss to get into Bills territory, but Terrel Bernard managed to punch the ball free for a fumble and jump on it to end the drive to keep the Bills ahead, 24-19, at the time.

ESPN host Stephen A. Smith weighed in on the Andrews’ tough night on X, seeming to push back on chatter that the loss was the fault, in part, of Jackson.

“Unfortunately, the great Mark Andrews — who hasn’t lost a fumble since 2019, and doesn’t drop pᴀsses — got stripped for a fumble and then dropped the 2-pt conversion that would’ve tied the game with under 2 min left. Tragic! Absolutely Tragic,” he wrote.

Andrews made five catches for 61 yards in the playoff loss.

Ravens coach John Harbaugh came to Andrews’ defense after the loss.

“We wouldn’t be here without Mark Andrews,” Harbaugh said.

The Ravens have made it to the conference championship just once since winning the Super Bowl in 2012.
