Jeff Ulbrich, who served as the Jets’ interim head coach for the final 12 games of the 2024 season, has landed a new job.
The Falcons are hiring Ulbrich as their defensive coordinator.
Ulbrich had been with the Jets since 2021.
He served as the defensive coordinator under coach Robert Saleh and was chosen to replace Saleh on an interim basis by owner Woody Johnson when he fired Saleh in October.
Ulbrich’s time as interim coach did not work out as either he or Johnson hoped.
The team went 3-9 under Ulbrich and missed the playoffs for the 14th consecutive season.
Ulbrich, 47, has history with the Falcons.
He was the linebackers coach there from 2015-20 and then was interim defensive coordinator in 2020 after Dan Quinn was fired as head coach and current Falcons coach Raheem Morris was the interim coach.
The Jets interviewed Ulbrich for their full-time head coaching opening on Monday, but he was considered a long sH๏τ to get the job after the way the 2024 season went.
