Travis Kelce reveals why he will ‘cherish every single play’ in Chiefs three-peat bid

Travis Kelce will be cherishing every moment on the field as the Kansas City Chiefs’ bid for an unprecedented three-peat reaches its conclusion.

The Chiefs are gearing up for their opening NFL playoff game this weekend after securing the AFC’s top seed and a first-round bye.

Awaiting them in the Divisional round are the Houston Texans, who make the trip to Arrowhead on Saturday having earned a Wild Card victory over the LA Chargers.

The 35-year-old Kelce, who many fear could hang up his cleats at the end of the season, and Kansas City are seeking history in their latest playoff campaign after claiming a second straight Super Bowl last season.

And as they look to become the first team ever to win it three times in a row, Travis has explained why he savors every single play when it gets to the business end of the season.

‘Playoff football is the most meaningful football that you’ll ever play in your life. I cherish every single play man. I really do,’ he said in a motivational clip released by the Chiefs ahead of their showdown with the Texans.

‘When you’re in it, you’re always trying to strive for greatness. Being greater than what you are.

‘You know obviously there’s a historic run and something that we can achieve that no other team has ever achieved. You know that fuels you.’

Kelce had a slow start to the 2024 season and it ended with one of the lowest production campaigns of his career.

The 823 receiving yards he put up and the three touchdown catches he had were both the lowest he’s recorded since his rookie campaign.

It was this rocky start that led many NFL analysts to suggest the legendary тιԍнт end might be better off retiring at the end of his 12th season with Kansas City.

Kelce has seen his non-football fame skyrocket over the past 18 months amid his whirlwind romance with pop megastar Taylor Swift, which many believe has contributed to his underwhelming form on the field.

But during an appearance on Stephen A. Smith’s podcast this week, Kelce insisted his relationship with Swift has left him happier than ever.

‘I’m enjoying all aspects of life,’ he told the longtime host of ESPN’s morning show ‘First Take’.

‘Me and Taylor are happy and I couldn’t be happier to enjoy that comfort and confidence off the field and all the support I could ever ask for at the stadium, man.’

Kelce also said that the support he gets from Swift is a two-way street, and that he works hard to make sure she feels that he is there for her.

‘Well, I think personally, that’s the beauty of being in a very strong relationship is that you get that support to be able to come in and focus on your craft, focus on being the best version of you,’ he added.

‘That’s why I wanted to be at the concert, supporting her and being there for her, making sure she feels comfortable and supportive and everything she’s doing in life.

‘I think I’m as focused as I’ve ever been on my job and being the best player that I could possibly be week in, week out for this team. It’s because I don’t have to worry about things off the field.’
