Patrick Mahomes is opening up about newborn daughter Golden Raye’s arrival, revealing he caught some NFL playoff action before wife Brittany gave birth on Sunday.
Speaking to reporters ahead of the Chiefs’ Divisional Round clash against the Texans on Saturday, the star quarterback, 29, shared that Brittany, also 29, was “kind enough” to permit postseason action on the TV as she readied to welcome the couple’s third child.
“It was cool that football was on TV when I was in the hospital so I got to watch a little bit. Brittany was kind enough to let us watch football as she was getting ready to give birth to our second daughter,” Mahomes said Tuesday.
Patrick and Brittany, who have been married since 2022, announced Golden’s arrival on Monday.
She joins big sister Sterling Skye, 3, and big brother Bronze, 2.
“It’s cool to welcome another baby girl in our family and see how my other kids react to her and having ‘baby Sissy’ and stuff like that. It’s been a lot of fun,” Mahomes said.
When pressed if baby No. 4 is on the immediate horizon, the three-time Super Bowl champion replied, “I’m good with three for right now. We’ll see down the line maybe, but my goal was always three.”
It’s been a busy start to the new year for Mahomes, who will take the field Saturday for the first time since Dec. 25, when the Chiefs clinched the AFC’s top seed with a Christmas Day win over the Steelers and secured a first-round bye.
Kansas City rested key players in its regular-season finale loss to the Broncos on Jan. 5.
The Chiefs, chasing their third straight Super Bowl тιтle, will host the Texans on Saturday afternoon.
The winner of Chiefs-Texans will then face the victor of Sunday’s Bills-Ravens matchup in the AFC Championship on Jan. 26.
The Chiefs topped the Ravens in the AFC тιтle game last January en route to an overtime Super Bowl win over the 49ers.
The Texans, the AFC’s No. 4 seed, fell to the Chiefs in Week 16 of the regular season, 27-19.
Houston torched the Chargers in the wild-card round last week, 32-12.
Kickoff in Kansas City between the Chiefs and Texans is at 4:30 p.m.
