We are in the middle of searching season for the Jets, as they try to find their new general manager and head coach.

Once the Jets do find their new leaders, we’ll get the introductory press conference — a tradition that always draws too much attention. It is understandable that fans and media are going to want to hear what the new guys have to say. What is their idea for the direction of the team? How are they going to change the Jets’ fortunes?

There will be many questions and many words … and most are meaningless.

Here is where I would caution Jets owner Woody Johnson. Yes, Woody, the Jets need to change the results on the scoreboard, but one score you should not be paying attention to is whether you win the press conference.
