BREAKING NEWSIndianapolis Colts to host NFL's first ever regular season game in Berlin

The Indianapolis Colts will be one of the teams to play the NFL’s first-ever regular season game in Berlin later this year.

The Colts’ opponent, along with game date and kickoff time, will be announced when the full 2025 NFL schedule is revealed this spring.

The NFL has held regular season games in Munich and Frankfurt since 2022, with the game in Berlin set to mark the fifth NFL regular season game in Germany and the first in the German capital.

The NFL played five American Bowl games at the Olympic Stadium between 1990 and 1994, and it was also home to NFL Europe’s Berlin Thunder from 2003 to 2007.

The Colts were granted marketing rights in Germany last April, as part of the league’s Global Markets Program.

‘The NFL is making history in Berlin, and the Colts are proud to be part of this landmark event in one of the world’s most historic cities,’ said Colts Owner & CEO Jim Irsay.

‘The NFL has become a global brand, and we’re looking forward to growing American football in Germany and expanding Colts Nation’s footprint around the world. This game also provides a unique opportunity for our local Indiana partners to engage with German businesses, customers and fans this season and in the future.’

The Olympic Stadium has hosted the 1936 Olympics, the men’s World Cup in 1974 and 2006, a women’s World Cup in 2011, six Euro 2024 matches  and world and European athletics championships.

Beginning in 2025, the NFL can schedule up to eight league-operated international regular season games per season.

A commitment to playing two regular season games in London at Tottenham H๏τspur Stadium and one game in Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu – home to Real Madrid – have already been announced for 2025.

Fifty-five regular season NFL games have been played around the world throughout the league’s history, with London, Munich, Frankfurt, Sao Paulo, Mexico City and Toronto all hosting games to date.
