Archaeologists working near the Giza pyramids have discovered an ancient Egyptian tomb dating back to around 2500 BC. Coffins with the bodies of high-ranking officials were placed there.
“The find includes a limestone family tomb from Egypt’s Fifth Dynasty, spanning the period from the 25th to the 24th century BC,” the Antiquities Ministry said.
There were two mummies in the tomb. Behnui-Ka who held seven тιтles during that period, including priest and judge, as well as Nwi, known as the ‘chief of the great state’ and the cleaner of Pharaoh Khafre.
Khafre, who built two of the three famous Giza pyramids, is believed to have reigned for about 25 years.
Archaeologists also found various objects in the tomb, including a limestone statue of one of the men, his wife and son.
