Tank Dell cheers Houston Texans in playoff game vs Chargers on crutches after horrifying knee injury vs Chiefs

A pair of Houston Texans wide receivers that have been ruled out for the rest of the season due to gruesome injuries were both present to watch their team in the AFC Wild Card round on Saturday.

Tank Dell and Stefon Diggs – two stars who were hit with rough leg injuries earlier in the season – were seen walking onto the field at NRG Stadium as the Texans were set to host the Los Angeles Chargers.

Dell was seen walking out of the tunnel on crutches – a symbol of the terrifying knee injury he sustained back on December 22 against the Kansas City Chiefs.

He was injured on a 30-yard touchdown catch in Houston’s 27-19 loss Saturday. He was coming across the back of the end zone and made the spectacular catch on a pᴀss from C.J. Stroud before colliding with Houston teammate Jared Wayne on the way to the ground.

Dell immediately grabbed at his knee and Wayne signaled for team trainers, who spent several minutes working on the wide receiver while teammates waited anxiously.

Dell was eventually placed on a stretcher and driven in a covered medical cart off the field, and then he was taken to the hospital.

Later, it was revealed that Dell had dislocated his knee and tore his ACL in the collision among other serious injuries.

It came just over a month after Diggs also sustained a serious injury to his knee – a non-contact injury that nevertheless ended his season.

Diggs was playing the Indianapolis Colts when he hurt his knee and it was later revealed to be a torn ACL as well.

Both these injuries left the Texans depleted at receiver – which was widely considered to be the team’s best stocked position.

Houston’s top three receivers are Nico Collins (who also missed some time this season injured), John Metchie III, and and Robert Woods.

Other pᴀss catching options for Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud include receiver Diontae Johnson – who they picked up after the injury to Dell – as well as тιԍнт ends Dalton Schultz, Cade Stover, and Irv Smith Jr.

Houston won the AFC South division for the second season in a row and are hoping to capitalize on last season’s success.

In the 2023 campaign, the Texans went from being the second-worst team in the league to reaching the AFC Divisional round – where they fell to the Baltimore Ravens.
