Robert Saleh getting Raiders interview as Bill Belichick rumors swirl

A second NFL team is set to interview Robert Saleh for their head coaching vacancy.

The Raiders, who fired Antonio Pierce Tuesday after just one full season as the team’s head coach, have lined up an interview with Saleh, according to ProFootballTalk.

The Jets fired Saleh in October after the team fell to 2-3 with a loss to the Vikings in London.

Saleh, 45, finished his three-plus-year tenure with the Jets with a 20-36 record.

The Jets went 3-9 the rest of the 2024 season under interim head coach Jeff Ulbrich.

Saleh has since been working as a consultant with the Packers under his friend, head coach Matt LaFleur.

Las Vegas went 4-13 this season under Pierce, who after taking over for Josh McDaniels in the middle of the 2023 season went 5-4 as the interim coach the rest of the year.

The Raiders’ opening is arguably the most intriguing of the six NFL head coaching openings.

NFL Network reported Wednesday that Tom Brady, a Raiders minority owner, “recently” reached out to his longtime coach with the Patriots, Bill Belichick, about the possibility of a reunion in Vegas.

Belichick, 72, stunningly went to the college ranks last month by taking the head coaching job at North Carolina after spending this season working several media gigs following his split with the Patriots last year.

However, Belichick isn’t planning on leaving UNC for an NFL job, The Athletic reported.

Belichick’s former player, Mike Vrabel, is a H๏τ coaching candidate after taking a year off following his firing by the тιтans last January.

He could be in the middle of a tug-of-war between his former quarterback, Brady, and his former owner, Robert Kraft, as the Patriots fired Jerod Mayo after just one season.
