NFL team stops media watching its quarterback practice amid huge injury concern before playoff showdown

The Packers prevented reporters from watching Jordan Love throw on Wednesday as the quarterback faces a race to get healthy for the team’s wild card matchup against the Eagles.

Love left Green Bay’s final regular season game last weekend holding his hand after a hit, and has been listed on Wednesday’s injury report as being limited in practice with a right elbow injury.

And four days before the Packers’ trip to Philadelphia, Green Bay closed media access to individual drills, according to Tom Silverstein of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

Love was spotted stretching and warming up, but reporters were not able to see how the quarterback looked slinging the ball – as they usually would.

He admitted to reporters on Wednesday that he was still feeling pain in his elbow when throwing, but said he was ‘hopeful’ of being able to play this weekend.

Love added that the initial numbness which he felt in his throwing hand had subsided.

Furthermore, head coach Matt LeFleur said after the game that Love – who was replaced by backup Malik Willis – could have re-entered the game if necessary.

The Packers lost 24-22 to the Bears, but had already clinched a playoff spot and were merely fighting for seeding.

Willis was also listed as limited in practice with a right thumb injury.

Love’s injury scare comes after wide receiver Christian Watson tore his ACL in Week 18, ruling him out for the rest of the season.

Love also missed two games earlier this season with an MCL sprain.

Green Bay will hope he can return this weekend, especially given his success in the wild card round last year.

Facing the Cowboys away from home, Love threw for 272 yards and three touchdowns as his team stunned Dallas 48-32.
