Supercomputer predicts who will make the Super Bowl as Travis Kelce and the Chiefs fight for three-peat

The Kansas City Chiefs are favorites to beat the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LIX – and complete a historic three-peat.

That is according to data analyzed by artificial intelligence to predict which teams are most likely to meet in New Orleans next month.

The NFL playoffs kick off this week, with the Chiefs and the Detroit Lions the respective No 1 seeds in the AFC and NFC.

They are joined in the postseason by the Eagles, the Bills, the Ravens, the Vikings, the Steelers, the Buccaneers, the Chargers, the Texans, the Commanders, the Rams, the Broncos and the Packers.

Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce and Co have already won back-to-back Super Bowls and the numbers suggest they are the most likely to reach the end-of-season showpiece once more.

The data, compiled by BetVictor Canada, give Andy Reid’s side a 30 percent chance of surviving the playoffs, with the Eagles (22 percent) predicted to face them in New Orleans.

It would be a repeat of Super Bowl LVII, with the Chiefs favored 55 percent to 45 percent to triumph – just as they did two years ago.

The Green Bay Packers (4 percent), the Denver Broncos and the LA Rams (both 5 percent) are the biggest outsiders to reach Super Bowl LIX.

BetVictor used artificial intelligence to examine the 2024 regular season, looking at team’s win-loss records, winning streaks, their schedule and playoff experience.

The Lions finished top of the pile in the NFC but, according to the numbers, they have just an 18 percent of chance of reaching a first Super Bowl.

Despite being the No 1 seed – and receiving a bye to the divisional round of the playoffs – Detroit is expected to lose to the Eagles in the NFC Championship game.

The Buffalo Bills and the Baltimore Ravens are expected to fall short, too, with the data suggesting they both have a 15 percent chance of reaching Super Bowl LIX.

The Bills, led by MVP candidate Josh Allen, begin their playoff bid against the Broncos on Sunday afternoon.

A few hours later, the Ravens – who have their own MVP-chasing quarterback Lamar Jackson – take on the Pittsburgh Steelers.

The other AFC matchup sees the No 5 seed Los Angeles Chargers visit the No 4 seed Houston Texans on Saturday afternoon.

The NFC side of the bracket kicks off with the Packers’ trip to the Eagles, before the Buccaneers host the Commanders.

On Monday night, the wildcard round ends with the Los Angeles Rams hosting the Minnesota Vikings.

The Super Bowl takes place at Caesars Superdome in New Orleans on February 9.
