Stephen A. Smith rips Tyreek Hill for saying he wants to leave Dolphins: ‘Tried to tell you’

Stephen A. Smith had something to say about Tyreek Hill’s declaration that he wanted out of Miami — and didn’t hold back.

Hill told reporters following the Dolphins’ season-ending loss to the Jets that “I’m out” in a surprising turn of events.

The Dolphins missed the postseason to cap a down year for the star wide receiver, which saw him fail to reach the 1,000-receiving-yard mark for the first time in five years and he recorded the fewest yards per game since his rookie year in 2016.

But Smith had a stern response to Hill’s comments.

“Hell to the no,” Smith said on Monday’s “First Take” on ESPN. “Stay your ᴀss right there.”

Smith continued to rip Hill.

“Life’s a little bit different when you ain’t with Patrick Mahomes,” Smith continued. “We tried to tell you. We don’t want to hear about no family now. You got your bag. That ain’t family, bro. Family’s the bag. Once you get the bag, family’s taken care of. This is about you recognizing that life is a little bit different when Patrick Mahomes ain’t throwing you the football.”

Hill was traded to the Dolphins in 2022 from the Chiefs after he couldn’t agree on a contract extension with Kansas City.

“This is my first time I haven’t been in the playoffs, man. So I just got to do what’s best for me and my family,” Hill said on Sunday. “If that’s here or wherever the case may be, I’m finna open that door for myself. I’m opening the door. I’m out bro. It was great playing here, but at the end of the day I gotta do what’s best for my career because I’m too much of a compeтιтor to be just out there.”

He also appeared to post a goodbye message to Dolphins fans on social media.

Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel appeared to insinuate that Hill quit on the team when he didn’t play in the fourth quarter of the loss to the Jets, with the two sides giving very different stories as to what the situation was.

Hill said that he was unavailable because of a little issue with his wrist, but McDaniel indicated that he was “not informed that it was a new injury.”
