Saquon Barkley shades Giants owner John Mara over offseason comments in new commercial

Saquon Barkley used his new partnership with Unisom to throw hilarious jabs at New York Giants owner John Mara.

The Philadelphia Eagles star running back posted a new commercial for the sleep aid brand, which shows him reading a lullaby to fans who were ‘having trouble sleeping.’

‘I hope some of you were having trouble sleeping, so I wrote you a lullaby,’ Barkley says while lying in bed with a Unisom sleeping mask on his forehead.

‘Rockabye baby, awake in your bed,’ Barkley began reciting. ‘As the thought of 2,000 swirls in your head. It sure is tough to lose sleep over football. Not for me, though; goodnight to you all.’

Social media users believe it was a dig at his former team after Mara went viral in the offseason for saying ‘I’ll have a tough time sleeping if Saquon goes to Philadelphia, I’ll tell you that.’

The remarks were made in an episode of Hard Knocks from the offseason as the Giants were figuring out where to trade Barkley.

Mara’s fears materialized when the 27-year-old signed a three-year deal to join their rivals in the City of Brotherly Love.

Since arriving in Philadelphia, Barkley has rushed for 2,005 yards.

He is now 101 yards away from breaking Eric Dickerson’s all-time rushing record. However, it is unlikely that Barkley would reach the milestone as the Eagles decided to rest him for the final game of the regular season against none other than the Giants.

On top of his yards, Barkley rushed for 13 touchdowns and received two this season.

Barkley spent the first six seasons of his career with the Giants where he rushed for 5,211 yards and 35 touchdowns.

After leaving East Rutherford, Barkley found much success with the Eagles who lead the NFC East with a 13-3 record.
