What the Giants learned about their O-line leaves them searching for the same old answers

It was one of the biggest questions and concerns for the Giants heading into the season.

The health of Daniel Jones was up there, but adjacent to that was the quality of the offensive line. Was it the improved unit it needed to be to finally put an end to years of search and struggle? The Giants in 2023 allowed a franchise-record 85 sacks — the second-highest total in NFL history. Something had to be done.

The unit was revamped for 2024, with only two returning starters remaining: Left tackle Andrew Thomas and center John Michael Schmitz.

General manager Joe Schoen signed three veterans in free agency to immediately fill out the starting lineup. Jon Runyan Jr. came from the Packers to start at left guard. Jermaine Eluemunor came from the Raiders to play right guard, or right tackle if Evan Neal was not fully healed from ankle surgery. And Greg Van Roten was brought in from the Raiders as depth at all three interior line spots.
