NFL insider reveals where Aaron Rodgers could go if he leaves the Jets

The future of New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers remains up in the air as a disastrous season comes closer to an end.

The 41-year-old signal caller is in the midst of one of the worst full seasons in his NFL career – with plenty of speculation surrounding a potential departure from the Jets.

As to where he might go, there aren’t many immediate suggestions. But NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport believes that one team that just made a mᴀssive contract move could be interested in his services.

On Friday, it was announced that the Cleveland Browns would be adjusting the mᴀssive contract they gave to controversial quarterback Deshaun Watson.

While the adjustment is an indicator that Watson will be on the Browns’ roster for 2025, that’s not a sign that he could start.

Rapoport believes there could be compeтιтion for the job next year – and believes that two quarterbacks currently signed to other teams on long-term deals could be in contention.

‘I would expect some compeтιтion though, wouldn’t be surprised if its veteran compeтιтion,’ Rapoport said on NFL GameDay Morning.

‘Aaron Rodgers, if he’s out of the Jets, would be one potential option. Kirk Cousins, the other.’

Cousins’ contract is much bigger than Rodgers – with the Atlanta Falcons QB having just signed with them this offseason for four years and $180million. $100million of that contract is guaranteed.

The Falcons have an opt-out in 2026, but all signs point to them moving on from Cousins earlier than that.

As for Rodgers, his contract has one more season on it – with the deal set to make him a free agent in 2026. But his performance this season has been disastrous and he deserves plenty of blame for the Jets’ shortcomings.

His 62.8 completion percentage is 27th in the NFL and his average pᴀssing yards per game is only 15th. Rodgers has only pᴀssed for over 300 yards in a game once this season – a 32-26 overtime loss to the Miami Dolphins.

Rodgers has also taken 33 sacks – tied for the 12th most in the league with Deshaun Watson and rookie Drake Maye. The only positive statistic he has is his touchdown-interception rating (24-8) – which is top-ten in the league.

Only two games remain in the Jets season. They are currently playing against the Buffalo Bills and will wrap up their season next week at home against the Miami Dolphins.
