Clay Travis accuses Ryan Clark of using his race 'to mask his insecurities' in astonishing attack

Outkick founder Clay Travis did not hold back on Ryan Clark after the ESPN analyst claimed that Lamar Jackson deserves the NFL MVP award over Josh Allen as he has ‘evolutionized’ what it means to be a black quarterback.

On Friday, the panel on ESPN’s marquee show First Take discussed the MVP race where Clark praised Jackson for surpᴀssing Michael Vick for the most rushing yards by a quarterback.

However, Outkick’s Bobby Burack wrote about how Clark claimed the Ravens star changed the position while being the ‘most underappreciated QB in the NFL” as a panel of black analysts nodded along.

Reposting their story on X, Travis unloaded on Clark for his approach to the MVP debate.

‘Ryan Clark is basically Carlton without the killer dance moves or likability,’ he said. ‘He’s desperately insecure and uses race as a shield to mask his own horrible insecurities. It’s honestly sad to see.’

‘His bosses are mostly white dudes and terrified of being called racist for firing him so they keep him employed even though he isn’t very talented and provides nothing of any particular value,’ Travis continued.

Lamar Jackson pᴀssed Michael Vick for most all time rushing yards by a QB, but that’s not a single individual’s accomplishment. It’s a collective win for the evolution of the black QB . ‘Was there a time when race impacted your success negatively in America? Yes. Was Ryan Clark an adult for any of those times? No. Now he trades on the legacy of racism to stay employed,’ he added. ‘Again, sad to see. ESPN should be better than this. Hell, sports should.’

The two-time MVP has the upper hand on Allen in most statistics this season. Jackson has more pᴀssing yards (3,955-3,549), pᴀssing touchdowns (39-26), and rushing yards (852-514).

While the Buffalo Bills quarterback only has the higher number in rushing touchdowns, 11-4, ESPN Bet has Allen favored to win the award at -225.

Aside from his previous takes, Clark also alluded to Steve Nash winning two NBA MVPs when ‘Kobe Bryant was the best player in the league.’

Travis was not the only sports media personality who blasted Clark and ESPN after Friday’s First Take.

After Burack compared the Jackson-Allen debate to the Angel Reese and Caitlin Clark conversations earlier this year, Jason Whitlock chimed in with an NBA comparison.

‘You forgot Jokic vs Embiid,’ he said. ‘Not sure if the convos would go much different if you added color. They’re all afraid of being labeled sellouts or racist on social media.

‘You rig the convos with a weak (least informed, least credible person on the panel) host who lives in fear of social media backlash and then you let nature (social media matrix) control the convo,’ Whitlock continued. ‘You can’t have a rugged conversation when the host believes tweets and posts break bones.’ m
