Aaron Rodgers did little to shed any light on his Jets and NFL future after this season when he spoke with reporters Wednesday.
Rodgers, 41, was asked if his play this year would make him think harder about what he’ll do after this season, but he remained cagey about his decision-making.
“I’m going to take some time after the year — unless I get released right away — but I’ll still take some time whether or not I want to play,” the Jets quarterback said.
Questions surrounding Rodgers’ future have only grown as the Jets’ season has spiraled, with the signal-caller — and team — proving inconsistent week to week.
The Jets are coming off a win over the Jaguars on Sunday, but they had dropped four straight and nine of 10 before the victory.
At 4-10, they are just one win ahead of the Patriots for last place in the AFC East.
Rodgers has thrown for 3,255 yards and 23 touchdowns this season, completing 62.5 percent of his pᴀsses.
He is coming off one of his best performances of the season, where he threw for three touchdowns and 289 yards in Jacksonville.
Jets interim head coach Jeff Ulbrich told reporters Monday that fans were starting to see “the real Aaron Rodgers.”
“He struggled with injury for a good part of the season, and, as he’s starting to get healthier, you’re starting to see Aaron Rodgers — the real Aaron Rodgers,” Ulbrich said.
Rodgers’ tenure hasn’t come close to reaching the Super Bowl expectations that arrived with him in the Big Apple in 2023.
