Richard Madeley has revealed a brutal swipe at his looks from his wife Judy Finnigan – leaving his cringing co-host admitting ‘that says a lot about your marriage!’
On Tuesday’s Good Morning Britain, Richard and his co-hosts Susanna Reid, Andrew Pierce and Kevin Maguire were discussing Donald Trump complimenting Prince William’s new beard.
Susanna said there had been a surge in demand for beard transplants since Prince William debuted his new facial hair, joking: ‘Although on this programme we know it’s because of Richard Madeley!’
Richard, 68, had recently grown out his stubble, but shaved it off on Tuesday morning after viewers voted for him to get rid of it.
When he was jokingly asked if he donated the hair from his face, he burst out laughing and said it went ‘straight down the plug hole’.
Andrew Pierce claimed that while facial hair suits the Prince of Wales, it doesn’t look so good on Richard.

Richard revealed that his wife, Judy Finnigan, didn’t even notice that he had grown his facial hair our
Susanna said: ‘Richard’s beard didn’t grow on Andrew. I have to say, a number of people said to me yesterday, that they hadn’t noticed it.’
Laughter was heard from the entire studio as Richard argued he had only had the beard for ten days.
When Andrew asked if Richard’s wife, Judy Finnigan, had even noticed his new look, he replied: ‘We had lunch out yesterday and a very nice lady came up, she was talking about it and said “I voted you should keep it!”. Judy said, “What’s she talking about?”. So no, she didn’t notice, never mind.’
‘Says a lot about you marriage, Richard!’, Andrew quipped back.

When he came back to the studio sofa, he said: ‘You can’t put it out there and ask people what they want you do to when you’re a guest in their homes at breakfast time. If they don’t like it, you have to go with it.’
It’s not the first time Richard has been forced to shave his facial hair on the morning chat show.
In November 2018, the presenter revealed how he received a late-night call from the Good Morning Britain boss telling him to shave his beard.
At the time, Richard said: ‘The fuzz from yesterday is gone. I was just going to bed last night and the phone went. It was the ‘big man’. I could hear something coming down the line at me.
‘He said, “Before I go, the beard… it’s fine on the tablets and the kitchen tellys, but in HD it looks like you’ve got in late and not had time to shave.”‘
