Jennifer Lopez and Meryl Streep were among the stars failing to pick up nominations for the 83rd annual Golden Globe awards.
Lopez’s performance in the sports biopic Unstoppable was ignored as was Streep’s recurring role in the hit series, Only Murders In The Building. Both were featured in a list of Golden Globe nomination predictions recently compiled by Variety.
Lady Gaga’s performance in Joker: Folie à Deux also failed to earn a nod; the film, which flopped at the box office and garnered poor reviews, saw Gaga play Harleen Lee Quinzel aka Harley Quinn.
Jon M. Chu and Ridley Scott were also surprise omissions from the Best Director – Motion Picture category, despite respective blockbusters Wicked and Gladiator II enjoying enormous box office success.
The filmmaker behind Dune: Part Two, Denis Villeneuve, also failed to receive a nod in the directing category.
Saoirse Ronan was another notable snub, failing to receive Golden Globe recognition for her films The Outrun and Blitz. The film Blitz also did not garner any nods.

Other actors failing to receive nods were Stanley Tucci of Conclave, Marianne Jean-Baptiste for Hard Truths and Danielle ᴅᴇᴀᴅwyler of The Piano Lesson.
Kneecap, Industry, and Fallout were the other projects failing to pick up any nods.
Another noteworthy snub was Sing Sing, which did receive an acting nomination for Colman Domingo but failed to receive any other chances for accolades.

Nicholas Chavez, who played one of the тιтle characters in Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story, was also left out of the nominations, however his co-stars Cooper Koch (who starred as Erik Menendez) and Javier Bardem both garnered nods.
Michael Keaton’s Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice performance was also unable to cast a spell on the Golden Globe decision makers, with the star failing to receive a nod for the sequel.
The box office hit ᴅᴇᴀᴅpool & Wolverine also failed to receive a nomination in the Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy category, however it did earn a nod for Cinematic and Box Office Achievement.
Jonathan Bailey from Wicked also did not receive a nomination.
The 82nd Golden Globes will take place at the Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles on January 5, hosted by Nikki Glaser – the first woman to solo host the awards.
While Lopez, Streep, and others were snubbed from the Golden Globes, a slew of other stars and projects did receive nods.
Nominations for the 2025 ceremony were announced Monday morning, with Wicked stars Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo both receiving nominations for their work in the musical film.
Grande – earning her first ever Golden Globe nomination – features in the category for Best Supporting Female Actor – Motion Picture nomination courtesy of her role as Galinda Upland in the fantasy drama.

The versatile star will compete alongside close friend Selena Gomez for her role in Emilia Perez and Margaret Qualley, who won universally positive reviews for body shock horror The Substance.
Isabella Rossellini also received a nomination for her role in Conclave, as does Zoe Saldana – again, for Emilia Perez.
Elsewhere Demi Moore has been acknowledged for her starring role alongside Qualley in The Substance, earning herself nomination for Best Female Actor – Motion Picture – Musical/Comedy.
Also garnering a nod, Grande’s Wicked co-star Arivo has been richly rewarded for her role as green-skinned witch-in-the-making Elphaba.

They will face tough compeтιтion in one of the ceremony’s biggest categories, with Zendaya also named for Challengers alongside Amy Adams for Nightbitch, Mikey Madison for Anora and Karla Sofia Gascon for Emilia Perez.
British star Eddie Redmayne was also among the early contenders after being named in the category for Best Television Actor in a Drama Series for his starring role in Netflix hit The Day Of The Jackal.
The actor faces stiff compeтιтion from Jake Gyllenhaal for Presumed Innocent, while Donald Glover also wins a nomination for his role in Mr. & Mrs. Smith.
There’s another British face on the list, with Gary Oldman’s starring role in Disney+ series Slow Horses earning him a richly deserved nomination, while Hiroyuki Sanada and Billy Bob Thornton win respective nods for Shōgun and Landman.
British Netflix drama Baby Reindeer has also been acknowledged, with the Richard Gadd written show featuring in the category for Best Limited Series, Anthology Series or Television Motion Picture and its lead actress Jessica Gunning named as Best Supporting Female Actor – Television.
The show will compete alongside the hugely popular Ripley, controversial biopic Monsters: The Lyle And Erik Menendez Story, True Detective: Night Country, Ripley and The Penguin.
During the upcoming awards ceremony, Cheers legend Ted Danson will receive the Carol Burnett Award for those who have “made outstanding contributions to television on or off screen” and Viola Davis will be handed the Cecil B. DeMille Award for achievement in film.
