Selena Gomez woke up to discover she’s now a four-time Golden Globes nominee.
Gomez, 32, scored two acting nominations for her roles in Emilia Pérez and Only Murders in the Building on Monday, December 9 ahead of the 2025 awards show. She took to social media to share her reaction with fans.
“I don’t even know what to write,” she captioned an Instagram Story video of herself sitting up in bed after hearing her name listed among the nominees for Best Supporting Female Actor, Film. “I’m so proud of @zoesaldana and I am so grateful and honored @goldenglobes.”
In the video, Gomez opened her mouth in surprise and covered her face with her hands upon hearing the news. She was also happy to hear that her pal Ariana Grande was nominated in the same category for her role as Glinda in Wicked, stating, “Oh, my God! Ari!” The clip ended with Gomez excitedly hiding back under the covers.

Both Gomez and her Emilia Pérez costar Zoe Saldaña scored Best Supporting Female Actor, Film, nods for their performances in the musical crime comedy. The movie, which hit Netflix on November 13, earned a total of 10 Golden Globes nominations on Monday, including Best Motion Picture, Musical or Comedy and Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Motion Picture, Musical or Comedy for Karla Sofía Gascón.
Gomez went on to praise Gascón, 52, director Jacques Audiard and the film’s crew in a follow-up Instagram Story, writing, “@karsiagascon mi amor I am so proud and grateful to know you! Congratulations to Jacques, [Clément Ducol] and Camille.”

Along with her movie’s milestones, Gomez also celebrated Only Murders in the Building’s four Golden Globes nominations, including her nod for Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Television Series, Comedy. Costars Steven Martin and Martin Short were recognized in the male actor category, and the show was nominated for Best Television Series, Musical or Comedy for its fourth season.
“So proud of my @onlymurdershulu family 🥲,” she wrote alongside an Instagram Story snap of her and the cast on set.

Gomez earned her first Golden Globe nomination for Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Television Series, Musical or Comedy, for OMITB in 2023 and scored another nod in the category the following year.
Gomez’s 2025 nomination for Emilia Pérez comes nearly seven months after she won Best Actress alongside costars Saldaña, 46, Gascón and Adriana Paz at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival in May. “Thank you SO much [Cannes Film Festival] and the whole board,” she wrote via her Instagram Story at the time.

In a recent TikTok comment, Gomez spoke out after Mexican actor Eugenio Derbez criticized her Spanish speaking in Emilia Pérez. “I feel like she doesn’t know what she’s saying,” he said during a podcast interview. “If she doesn’t know what she’s saying, she can’t give her acting any nuance.”

Gomez reacted to his critiques, writing, “I understand where you are coming from. I’m sorry. I did the best I could with the time I was given.”
She went on to add: “Doesn’t take away from how much work and heart I put into this movie.”
