Joe Buck wants Cowboys to be on ‘Monday Night Football’ all the time: ‘Every week’

The Cowboys are 5-7, playing with a backup quarterback and likely out of the NFC playoff picture.

But that doesn’t mean one prominent sports broadcaster doesn’t want to see them more often in prime time.

In fact, Joe Buck would take them “every week.”

The ESPN “Monday Night Football” play-by-play announcer admitted as much this week during an appearance on 96.7 The Ticket in Dallas.

The Cowboys are playing on “MNF” this week against the 4-8 Bengals, the second time this year Dallas has played on Monday after their Week 11 loss to the Texans.

The Cowboys are a staple in the national spotlight, particularly on “MNF,” where they regularly play multiple games, with two showings in the last two seasons and three appearances in 2022.

Buck, who partners with ex-Cowboys quarterback Troy Aikman on the broadcasts, said having the team on Mondays gives ESPN more people watching because of the continual intrigue surrounding the franchise, even when they’re not playing well.

“I would do them every week,” Buck said on the radio show. “I would come to Dallas, enjoy my time in the greater area and enjoy being in that stadium and doing the Dallas Cowboys every damn week. Because they get eyeballs, they’ve got the biggest star in the NFL — his name is Jerry Jones. And they get people to watch on their television sets.

Buck, added, that he enjoys going to Texas to call games at AT&T Stadium, seeing that there’s extra juice just about every time the Cowboys play on the big stage.

“And we got two Dallas home games, and I don’t care what their record is. I’m always excited to go to Dallas and watch them play and call it into a headset.”

The Cowboys don’t have any further “MNF” games left on the docket, but they do have a “Sunday Night Football” matchup with the Buccaneers on Dec. 22.

Behind running back Rico Dowdle’s 112 rushing yards and 195 through the air from backup QB Cooper Rush, the Cowboys beat the Giants on Thanksgiving to keep themselves in the playoff hunt, albeit slimly.

NFL.com only gives them a 2 percent chance to make the postseason.

Nevertheless, that didn’t stop star edge rusher Micah Parson from telling Fox after the win that America shouldn’t sleep on the Cowboys.

“I’m telling you all right now, we’re coming,” he said.
