Miley Cyrus has revealed whose idea it was for her to dancing against a metal pole during her 2009 Teen Choice Awards performance.
The 32-year-old pop star — whose estranged dad Billy Cyrus wished her a happy birthday last week — performed her hit son Party in the USA at the show more than 10 years ago.
And now, she’s shared that her mother Tish Cyrus, 57, was behind the controversial detail — the pole dancing-inspired prop that was included with an ice cream cart set on stage.
The now world-famous, Grammy-winning music artist was just 16-years-old at the time.
Miley dished the fact about her mother in a conversation with her sister Brandi Cyrus, 37, for Spotify’s Billions Club series.
‘This is going to be no surprise to you,’ Miley teased before asking Brandi, ‘Do you know whose idea that was?’

Brandi correctly guessed it was their mom who suggested the pole, as the Flowers hitmaker confirmed, ‘Yup, that was my mom’s idea. So she always lets me take the blame.’
Miley recalled, ‘When I got in trouble the next day, you know who was nowhere to be found? Tish Cyrus.’

And she went on to reveal what made the performance unforgettable.
‘The thing that I remember most about that performance was it was the first time I ever wore real diamond jewelry on stage,’ she said.
‘So you guys remember a little old ice cream truck, I remember the diamonds,’ the former child star said playfully.
Tish recently got candid about her marriage with ex Billy Ray.
She discussed their split, which came after 28 years of marriage, on the podcast Sibling Revelry With Kate Hudson And Oliver Hudson.
‘I never wanted to be divorced,’ the mother-of-three confessed. ‘[But] for us, you’re in the public eye and the world that we exist in is already so odd and at some times unstable.’

Tish also shared with listeners the mistake she made in trying to make the marriage work.
She explained: ‘I wanted to make it work, probably for a little too long, like, for my own mental health. There became a point that, like, I didn’t have a choice.’
Tish and Billy Ray share daughters Miley, daughter Noah, 24, and son Braison, 30.
Billy Ray also adopted Tish’s daughter Brandi and son Trace, 35, from her previous marriage.
On the podcast she also admitted to knowing that her split was ‘tough on everyone’ in the family, especially her adult children.
Tish said: ‘My son Trace, for example… He was bummed. He was like, “I wish my mom and dad would never get… I wish that wouldn’t have happened.”‘
