Jade Thirlwall has admitted she was previously ‘scared to promote her heritage’ as she opened up about being a role model on Friday.
The singer, who is half Arab, one-quarter Yemeni, one-quarter Egyptian, revealed she felt alienated and faced racist remarks while she was at secondary school in Newcastle.
Now after going solo from Little Mix, Jade revealed she is feeling more confident after realising she lacked positive represent when she was younger.
Speaking to Rolling Stone UK, she said: ‘I’d only ever seen negative stereotypes of Arab people in the press, so I was scared to promote my heritage.
‘I feel sad for my younger self that I could’ve been the representation I needed back then. I try to make up for that now.’

Jade said after the girl band split it took her a ‘minute to get my independence back’ as she had spent her whole adult life in the band.
She continued: ‘I didn’t know how to be a woman in my own right. When we first stopped, I was lost because I was like, “f***, every decision I’ve made over the past decade hasn’t been my own”. It took me a minute to get my independence back.’
Jade looked incredible as she posed for the cover shoot wearing a semi-sheer ɴuᴅᴇ corset which she teamed with a dramatic ruffled blue scarf.
The singer wore her long brunette tresses in a bold voluminous style and opted for a glamorous smoky palette of makeup.
For her second look, wowed in a black leather coat which she teamed with thigh high matching boots as she sat on the floor gazing into the camera.
It comes after Jade put on a loved-up display with boyfriend Jordan Stephens at the Rolling Stone Awards in London on Thursday night.
The singers couldn’t keep their eyes off each other as they posed arm-in-arm before heading in to the Roundhouse theatre.
The Angel of My Dreams songstress looked nothing short of gorgeous in the semi sheer corset dress which included off the shoulder strap details, buckles and and ragged train.

During the evening, Jade changed into a a strapless beige dress as she was awarded the The Trailblazer Award
She paired the bold look with a pair of vintage steam punk-inspired pink boots with a large bow.
Jade let her outfit do the talking as she posed without any jewelry and smoky make-up.
Beside her was her partner Jordan, who she has been dating since 2020 during the first coronavirus lockdown after she slipped into his Instagram direct messages.
Jordan looked effortlessly stylish in a brown monochrome look.
The Rizzle Kicks band member, 32, donned a dark chocolate brown Levi’s corduroy utility jacket and matching baggy trousers which he wore over a brown shirt.
The rapper completed his look with a brown tie and white loafers swept his hair into a top knot.
And the musical duo looked to be more in love than ever as they laughed and snuggled in to each other before heading in tot he award show.
