Netflix fans are ‘locked in’ to a dramatic new ‘cat and mouse thriller’ series that dropped onto the streaming platform on Thursday.
The Madness, which stars Emmy-winner Colman Domingo, has impressed both fans and critics alike, who have immediately dubbed it as a ’10/10′ TV show.
It sees the actor, 55, step into the role of media pundit Muncie Daniels, who is forced to fight for his innocence and his life after he stumbles upon a murder deep in the woods of the Poconos mountains.
As the walls close in, Muncie strives to reconnect with his estranged family, and his lost ideals, in order to survive.
Also starring in the thriller series are Marsha Stephanie Blake as Muncie’s ex-wife Elena Daniels and John Ortiz as hard-nosed FBI agent Franco Quinones.
Tamsin Topolski plays Lucie Simon, the estranged wife of the white supremacist Muncie is accused of killing and Thaddeus J. Mixson portrays Muncie’s teenage son Demetrius.

The eight-episode limited series comes from Chernin Entertainment’s first-look deal at Netflix.
The Guardian’s critic Lucy Mangan scored the series an impressive four stars and wrote that the ‘slick, smart conspiracy thriller gets better and better with each episode’.
She quipped: ‘As well as being smartly plotted and expertly paced, The Madness has a subtle but great line in showing how Muncie must navigate the traditional tropes as a Black man (police scepticism, approaching strangers for information, or simply being out and about in certain neighbourhoods).
‘All the constraints an Everyman at the centre of a conspiracy thriller normally operates under are given extra, inescapable torque and the tension builds accordingly.’
Meanwhile, FandomWire had high praise for The Madness as they dubbed it an ‘exquisite cat and mouse thriller’ in their review.
They wrote: ‘The Madness had me reeled in with its premise alone, and when you added Colman Domingo, it was the icing on the cake.
‘There is nothing better than a well-written show that will keep you guessing about what is next. This was very much a cat-and-mouse matchup between the ancillary pieces of the show.’
According to Tudum by Netflix, Domingo explained that his character is modeled after real-life media pundits ‘who are respected, at times challenged, even by their own communities. Sometimes looked at as being not Black enough, and then to some folks, too Black.’
He added: ‘He is someone who was definitely an activist when he was younger, then moved into a different echelon and then became a bit of a superstar. He’s a little bit removed from the communities he was advocating for.’
