Kate Beckinsale shared an emotional Thanksgiving post, in which she reflected on losing her stepfather Roy Battersby and beloved cat Clive.
In a video, uploaded to her Instagram on Thursday, the actress, 51, can be seen holding what appeared to be a vigil in her hallway for her lost loved ones.
‘Graтιтude for the mighty men, both two and four legged I have loved and been loved by, all of whom I watched die,’ she captioned the footage. ‘And for my warrior mother and warrior daughter.’
The Serendipity continued: ‘Don’t feel bad if Thanksgiving makes you more aware of what you have lost and fear losing and if you have it in you, maybe try to glimpse the absolute graтιтude and joy to have and have had these beings in life.’
The performer explained that ‘it’s hard sometimes to feel graтιтude for what and who you lose’ when other people tell you to ‘feel grateful to have your memories.’
Still, she expressed that it is important to her to honor those that have pᴀssed away and are fighting.

‘Thank you my mama for sending me these beautiful flowers despite all you are going through and to my daughter for making me so proud my breath catches in my throat,’ she concluded. ‘Happy day of being thankful and don’t beat yourself up if you don’t feel grateful. It’s in there.’
In July, Beckinsale revealed that her dramatic weight loss was a result of the ‘stress and grief’ of the death of her stepfather and her mother’s cancer diagnosis.

After seeing cruel comments about her skinny appearance, the star opened up about her changed figure and six-week hospital stint.
‘I watched my stepfather die quite shockingly, my mother has stage 4 cancer and I lost a lot of eight from stress and grief,’ she wrote on Instagram. ‘Quite quickly and then I was in hospital for six weeks because the grief had burned a hole in my oesophagus, which made me vomit copious amounts of blood, and I found eating very hard.’
She went on to say: ‘And I just worked very very hard on a movie that was actually quite triggering because it also involved the theme of the death of my father so I’m not really concerned about what you think about my a**.’
Kate’s stepdad Roy Battersby died in January after suffering ‘a mᴀssive stroke’ while battling two forms of cancer, which he was diagnosed with the summer before.
Shortly after his death, Kate also revealed that her mother Judy Loe had also been told she has stage four cancer.
Another person asked: ‘How’s your health Katie? You look like you have lost some weight?’, to which she responded: ‘It’s great now thanks’.

One other replied underneath: ‘I posted basically the same thing, she looks unhealthy’ and another person said: ‘Someone seems upset.’
Kate quipped: ‘I don’t think you look upset. I think you look like maybe your rictus grim is concealing years of bitterness but I wouldn’t call it upset necessarily.’
In several posts, Nicole claimed that she knew the people behind some of the comments, who she said were hiding behind fake profiles.
In response to someone who asked ‘Kate, you’re getting everyone so rattled are they ok?’, ‘Are they okay hun? Are they okay? Actually? I know who quite a few of them are and they are really not okay.’
Replying to a person who had said ‘so weird how the head keeps growing but the body shrinks. They turn into gnomes’, Kate said: ‘the LOL of your bio picture being an actual gnome living its best life in the forest has given me so much life. I can’t tell you please go gather some more nuts and berries.’
As well as replying to some of the negative comments, Kate also took the time to reply to some of her fans who had wished her well.

One said: ‘You have more true fans who appreciate you than haters. Always know this [smiley face emoji]’.
Kate replied: ‘Oh I love my followers I really do – some of them are such incredible decent, supportive brilliant souls of me and of each other.
‘I actually have a problem with two people who keep making multiple accounts so don’t be fooled. A lot of this is them.’
Kate’s original post was of her joking about people who said she hasn’t been acting her age on social media.
The model playfully put a hairnet over her head and joked that she needed to take up knitting in order to be more ‘age appropriate’ for her fanbase.
She captioned the video: ‘Let’s have a toast for the douche bags. Let’s have a toast for the a**holes. Let’s have a toast for the scumbags.’

In March, Kate revealed she had been hospitalized after sparking concern among her fans with tearful selfies.
She later explained the reason behind her hospital stint in a now-deleted Instagram post, writing: ‘I spent six weeks in hospital due to copiously vomiting blood from a Mallory Weiss tear caused by the stress of a whole year ripping a hole between my oesophagus [sic] and stomach.’
‘That’s what I am prepared to disclose that has contributed to some weight loss. What you think of my appearance and how I should look, independently of any circumstances in my life and my family’s is not important.’
In recent months, Kate had been caring for her mother and late stepmother after flying them out from the UK to stay with her in Los Angeles.
‘Kate has been caring for her parents, who both have serious illnesses, for most of the year,’ a source exclusively revealed to DailyMail.com late last year. ‘She brought them to her home in LA and has made looking after them her number one priority.’
