Wayne Rooney looked like he would have rather been on the other side of the world after his team Plymouth Argyle suffered a humiliating 6-1 defeat by Norwich on Tuesday.
The football manager, 39, stayed behind in the UK while his two youngest sons Kit, eight, and Cᴀss, six, flew out with wife Coleen’s parents, Colette and Tony, to Australia as she competes in I’m A Celebrity.
Cᴀss even held a figure of Wayne in a football kit and a cuddly kangaroo as he arrived at check-in.
Plymouth’s loss is a bitter blow for Wayne, who has made no secret about being a longtime fan of the jungle and is missing out on the chance to meet Coleen at the iconic bridge when she departs.
The WAG, 38, has proved an instant hit with viewers and succeeded in her first Bushtucker Trial with Dean McCullough earlier this week.
Viewers watched on Tuesday’s episode as Coleen and the rest of camp ascended the Fright Bus which saw hundred of creepy crawlies rain down on them while they tried to move circle discs to each get an item of hand luggage.

Amidst all the chaos, including Maura Higgins declaring she’s ‘on the verge of a heart attack’ and Danny Jones and Melvin Odoom singing ‘I’ve got roaches in my pants’, fans were impressed by Coleen’s cool composure.

Others compared her to her co-stars, writing: ‘the way they’re all losing their minds then there’s coleen just getting on with it’ and ‘Coleen seems so chill. Nice change compared to the others’.

The WAG was rewarded with a flight cushion in her luggage.
Meanwhile at Carrow Road stadium in Norfolk, a defeated Wayne said: ‘We were nowhere near good enough – we are down to the bare bones with injuries but that is no excuse.
‘We were fortunate to be only 2-1 down at half-time. You then hope for a reaction in the second half but once they made it 3-1 I thought we went under, which is very disappointing. The players just didn’t look like they thought they could get back in it.
‘We need to be a lot better than that – the next 24-48 hours are not going to be very nice for the players.

He said: ‘Coleen’s parents are helping out mᴀssively. I’m over in Plymouth with work, so we’ve got a good team looking after the kids, but yeah, we’re missing her.’
Wayne added he hoped to see Coleen take on one of the show’s infamous challenges saying: ‘I’d love to see her doing a trial. That’s what going out there is all about – testing yourself.
‘She’d be really good at the trials, and it would be great for her to have that experience.’
The football legend also confessed he and the rest of the family are huge fans of the show and that he wouldn’t mind making an appearance.
‘We watch it most years when we can. The celebrity version is the one we always said we’d do.
‘Maybe I’d try it one day if I’m not working, but it’s not possible right now.’
