This Morning fans have begged for Ben Shephard’s replacement on Wednesday’s show to be made a ‘permanent, full-time host’.
Cat, 48, usually hosts with Ben, 49, but since he has been away filming for another ITV show she has been joined by the likes of Alison Hammond, Dermot O’Leary, and Andi Peters instead.
On Wednesday, Dermot was back in the studio to fill in for the usual host – and some fans were thrilled with the choice.
Viewers took to X to write: ‘Cat and Dermot work VERY well together. Natural, relaxed, energetic and warm. Not at all stiff or awkward #ThisMorning;’
‘Dermot should be the main full time presenter. He’s great with both Cat and Alison #ThisMorning.’
‘Anyone noticing it’s less stressful now Ben’s not around? #ThisMorning.’

Introducing the segment, Andi said: ‘If you’re dreaming of a white, Jeff Brazier has gone in search of some snow. Jeff, good morning! It looks glorious where you are!’
To which Jeff quipped back: ‘Morning Cat and Andi. Andi don’t worry, I’ll do the cold ones!’

Looking visibly shocked, Cat asked: ‘You’re first name is Sean? How did I not know that?’
Cat shook Dermot’s hand and said: ‘Lovely to see you again Dermot O’Leary. Do you have a middle name?’
To which he replied: ‘Well my first name is Sean. Sean Dermot O’Leary.’
Looking visibly shocked, Cat asked: ‘You’re first name is Sean? How did I not know that?’
Dermot went on to explain: ‘Normally, If you’re born in Ireland or from Irish parents they like to christen you as something and then call you something totally different.
‘So I am Sean Dermot but I’ve only ever been called Dermot. But I am officially Sean Dermot.’
He then went on to tell the story of a time his double name caused some issues in the Irish pᴀssport office.
He said: ‘Once, I went into the Irish pᴀssport office, and pre-Brexit the Irish pᴀssport office were quite chilled, so they were like “Oh yeah you’re here, we have your pᴀssport.”
‘I looked down and said “Yeah but it says Dermot” and they said “Yeah but you are Dermot” and I said “Yeah but look at the old pᴀssport” and they went “Oh, no we just looked at the picture!”
‘So now, I am both Dermot and Sean Dermot. Which you can imagine for legal reasons its quite confusing.’
‘But quite good when you have a split personality, you can just choose which one you want,’ joked Cat.
Dermot gave a sarcastic thumbs up to the camera as he said: ‘Yeah, thanks mum and dad!’
This Morning airs weekdays on ITV1 from 10am and is available to stream on ITVX.
