Sophia Bush and Ashlyn Harris’ friendship turned romantic on the heels of their respective divorces from Grant Hughes and Ali Krieger — and they’ve been building their relationship ever since.
A source exclusively told Us Weekly Bush and Harris “bonded over their breakups and having to start over” in October 2023, one month after they began dating.
Us confirmed in August 2023 that Bush and Hughes called it quits after 13 months of marriage. Bush filed for divorce from the entrepreneur, per court documents obtained by Us, and listed their date of separation as June 27, weeks after their first wedding anniversary.
Harris’ ex-wife Krieger, for her part, insinuated her spouse cheated during their marriage by saying she was in her “Beyoncé ‘Lemonade’ era” in October 2023, one month after Harris filed for divorce. (Beyoncé’s visual album seemingly details her relationship with husband Jay-Z after discovering he had been unfaithful.)

A “couple of weeks” after Harris and Bush’s first official date, a source told Us that the duo have a lot in common.

Bush and Harris “were together drinking and dancing” in New York City during a night out with actress Hilarie Burton Morgan, an eyewitness exclusively told Us on March 7.
The ladies tore up the Big Apple while attending Netflix’s Girls5Eva season 3 premiere afterparty, with the eyewitness saying, “Ashlyn was holding Sophia and kissing her cheek as they danced.”

Bush officially came out as queer in her Glamour cover story published on April 25, confirming her relationship with Harris and revealing how they went from friends to something more.
“It took me confronting a lot of things, what felt like countless sessions of therapy, and some prodding from loved ones, but eventually I asked Ashlyn to have a non-friend-group hang to talk about it,” Bush wrote. “And that meal was four and a half hours long and truly one of the most surreal experiences of my life thus far. In hindsight, maybe it all had to happen slowly and then suddenly all at once. Maybe it was all fated. Maybe it really is a version of invisible string theory.”

Days after Bush’s Glamour cover story, she and Harris made their red carpet debut as a couple at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner on April 27 in Washington, D.C. They were spotted getting cozy at the WHCD afterparty the same night.

Bush celebrated Harris’ 39th birthday by sharing a PDA pic via Instagram. “You are the sun, in human form ☀️ You light up the world and warm each and every person you touch. There is no one like you, and everyone who knows you knows it’s true,” Bush gushed. “We are all so lucky. And I am the absolute luckiest. Harris and Bush enjoyed a day at Disneyland with the former athlete’s two children, Sloane and Ocean. Harris shared a pH๏τo of the group via her Instagram Story standing in front of a Christmas tree in the park, marking the first time she posted Bush with her kids. Bush twinned with the little ones, wearing Minnie Mouse ears as they wandered around the theme park.
