Olivia Colman and Gemma Chan glam up at star-studded UNICEF event… raising £670K for children

Olivia Colman and Gemma Chan glammed up as they led stars at the UNICEF UK World Children’s Day Gala in London on Wednesday. 

The Crown actress, 50 – who met with a Ukrainian teenager to hear her story of resilience amid the war with Russia this year – joined Chan, 40, and other celebrity guests at Frameless London where the festivities took place. 

The inaugural Once Upon Our Time gala hosted 200 guests and raised a large sum of around £670,000 ($839,000) ‘to support UNICEF in continuing its life-changing work to ensure children’s futures and their childhoods are protected,’ per a statement. 

Colman put on a glamorous display wearing a dark gray, satin dress that had caped sleeves and ruched details around the upper portion. 

Olivia – who is the UNICEF UK President – accessorized the look for the evening by adding a glittering, black necklace as well as matching dangly earrings.

She additionally slipped into a pair of closed-toed, black pumps to coincide with the monochromatic color scheme.

The couple – who tied the knot in 2001 – flashed cheerful smiles as they paused for a brief pH๏τo session upon arriving to the glitzy venue. 

Colman was later seen taking to the stage as she addressed the large crowd while giving an opening speech.  

‘What a wonderful evening for UNICEF and for children all over the world, this World Children’s Day,’ The Favourite actress expressed, according to a press release. 

‘Tonight was a reminder of why I’m so proud to be UNICEF UK’s President – working with an organization that puts children, their voices and their rights at the heart of everything it does – it’s true, the “C” really does stand for Children.’

Olivia also added, ‘Hearing inspiring stories from around the globe tonight, it’s proof that no matter where children are or the tragedy they are facing, UNICEF will be there to protect them, so they can simply be children.’

‘Thank you to everyone who supported and helped raise an astounding amount of money to continue this important work.’

The Eternals actress also donned a pair of chic, black heels and easily carried a glittering, silver clutch bag to hold a few items she needed during the gala.

The star’s dark locks were parted to the side, and pulled back into a low up do, allowing loose strands to border the sides of her face. 

Chan opted for minimal accessories to allow her outfit to be the main focal point, and added a pair of mini silver earrings. 

Her makeup was classically done, and comprised of a layer of mascara to her lashes as well as a light shadow around her eyes. 

Gemma – who is a UK ambᴀssador for UNICEF – also added a warm blush to her cheekbones, while a satin, ɴuᴅᴇ-colored tint was worn on her lips for a final touch. 

She showed off her look upon arriving to the venue, and was later spotted taking to the stage to speak to the crowd.

Guests stopped by Frameless London which is an immersive art experience – and a live auction also took place to help raise funds for children. 

Those in attendance were also ‘immersed in a world of real-life children’s stories, as they watched the space turn from sunrise to sunset, pausing on daily rituals shared by children around the world.’
