It has been six years since Mac Miller died of an overdose at the age of 26. 

Now, one of the three men charged with selling him the drugs that killed the singer – who used to date Wicked star Ariana Grande – has been released from federal prison after serving a five-year sentence.

Cameron James Petтιт has been a free man again after getting out of the Federal Correctional Insтιтution in Mendota, California on October 11, TMZ reported.

After Miller’s death, Peтιтt and his two co-defendants Stephen Walter and Ryan Reavis were charged with conspiring to distribute controlled substances resulting in death in 2019.

Walter and Reavis are still in prison, serving their 17 and 11 year sentences, respectively, for distributing fentanyl.

The three men sold the late hip hop artist – real name Malcolm James McCormick –counterfeit oxycodone pills laced with fentanyl, which led to his death on September 7, 2018 in his Studio City, California home.

A preview of the album was shared over the weekend at Tyler the Creator’s Camp Flog Gnaw festival in Los Angeles.

A two-and-a-half minute trailer for the album played on screens at the annual festival between sets for performers.

The trailer features The Song That Changed Everything’ and 5 Dollar Pony Rides, both of which fans have long speculated were intended for the album a decade ago.

According to a statement Miller’s estate released, the new album contains work that he created around the time of his 2014 album Faces.

‘It is a project that was of great importance to Malcolm to the extent that he commissioned artwork for it and discussions concerning when it should be released were had regularly, though ultimately GO:OD AM and subsequent albums ended up taking precedence,’ the estate said. 

‘We believe the project showcases both the breadth of his musical talents and fearlessness as an artist. 

‘Given that unofficial versions of the album have circulated online for years and that releasing Balloonerism was something that Malcolm frequently expressed being important to him, we felt it most appropriate to present and official version of the project to the world.’

The new album is legendary amongst Miller’s fans who have been guessing at what the set list would be for it since before his untimely death.

Devoted fans have even ᴀssembled various versions of Balloonerism on SoundCloud.

Balloonerism is the second posthumous album from Miller.

His estate released  Circles in 2020, which was a companion to 2018’s Swimming.
