Queen Camilla will miss the Royal Variety Performance on Friday, November 22 due to an ongoing chest infection, Buckingham Palace has announced.
Doctors have advised Camilla, 77, not to overextend herself, leading to her last-minute withdrawal from the event. She was previously scheduled to attend the performance with her husband, King Charles III.
“Following a recent chest infection, the Queen continues to experience some lingering post-viral symptoms, as a result of which doctors have advised that, after a busy week of engagements, Her Majesty should prioritize sufficient rest,” the palace said in a statement. “With great regret, she has therefore withdrawn from attendance at tonight’s Royal Variety Performance. His Majesty will attend as planned.”
Camilla’s decision to stay home comes after she missed two events honoring British soldiers earlier this month, including the Remembrance Sunday ceremony.
