Emmerdale’s Tom King star hints at twisted double exit as soap villain bows out with final act of cruelty

Emmerdale star James Chase has hinted at a twisted double exit as his character Tom King’s reign of terror finally comes to an end.

Viewers will know that Tom has been physically and mentally abusing his wife Belle Dingle (Eden Taylor Draper) for months.

And despite her escaping his clutches, her torment has been far from over as Tom continues to torment her around the village, with Belle even facing prison for striking him with an axe in self-defense.

But amid viewers’ desperate pleas for Tom’s dastardly ways to be stopped, the actor has suggested that the sinister vet is soon to bow out of the ITV soap – but not without a final act of cruelty.

Speaking to The Mirror, actor James reveals that as the wall close in on Tom, he has a potentially dark plan up his sleeve as he desperately attempts to evade justice for his crimes.

Hinting that Tom will stop at nothing to get his way, he said: ‘He always has a plan, trying to scare Belle, manipulating those he can. Tom always has got a plan and he’s got something up his sleeve because he has to if he wants to get out of this situation on top.’

And while the soap star didn’t spill the beans on exactly what his character was planning, he did confirm that the dramatic scenes were ‘intense’ to film.

Meanwhile, James hinted at a double exit, with Tom potentially planning to flee the village with girlfriend Amelia Spencer (Daisy Campbell).

It was reported last night that actress Daisy, who plays Amelia, had been axed from the ITV soap, with her final scenes to be played out just before Christmas.

On if the couple will flee together, James added: ‘He says to Amelia they can move away together partly because he doesn’t have any friends here anymore and is hated in the village. So that is definitely a huge aspect of it. But also it’s like when he went away to Wales with Belle, it was a way for him to fully control her and to have her to himself. So I think this maybe a similar thing whether it’s subconscious or not.’

James added that Tom’s goal is to have as less people as possible around Amelia as possible so that she’s reliant on him, adding that this is something that his sinister character ‘quite enjoys’.

The star told how Tom’s ‘mask’ does eventually ‘slip’, with villagers – including his Uncle Jimmy – finally learning the shocking truth.

Discussing how he thinks Tom would cope in prison, James remarked that his alter-ego is a ‘survivor’ who’ll no doubt adapt’ to prison life and even come out ‘stronger’.

He said: ‘Tom is a survivor to be honest so I think there would be an initial few months of the reality of the situation setting in for him. He would likely be incredibly depressed and scared of where he is, But with time he would evolve and I fear that he would come out perhaps worse, depending on how bad the prison is and what kind of people he meets there.’

Despite her escaping his clutches, her torment has been far from over as Tom continues to torment her around the village, with Belle even facing prison for striking him with an axe in self-defense.

Meanwhile, recent soap spoilers reveal there’s more to come in the Tom King saga.

Tom tries to persuade Nicola to trust him, and she is left furious when Jimmy ends up taking his nephew’s side.

Needing Amelia’s help, Tom charms his girlfriend by pretending to say a prayer in the church and dropping a hint that he might want them to get engaged.

Amelia agrees to talk to Nicola about Tom, but when they arrive at the café, Nicola is unconvinced by their show of unity.

Elsewhere, Belle’s upset to hear about the lack of progress in the investigation into Tom. Later, Tom slips in through the back door while Belle is upstairs having a bath.

Creeping around, he steals one of Belle’s tops before leaving. Tom then taunts Belle to wind her up when they bump into each other.

Belle is left reeling when she spots Amelia wearing what seems to be her missing top.

'He always has a plan, trying to scare Belle, manipulating those he can. Tom always has got a plan and he¿s got something up his sleeve because he has to if he wants to get out of this situation on top'

Amelia is shocked by the accusation and Belle gets flustered and leaves in a panic. Later, Tom is furious and rails at a confused Amelia for what she said to Belle.

But as he marches her out of the house, it’s Tom who’s in for a shock as DI Foy arrives to take him in for more questioning.

Soon, it seems justice may finally be served on twisted Tom.
