Deal Or No Deal viewers brand player ‘a bit much’ as they break down in tears – and joke that show bosses ‘must be giving them gin backstage’

Deal Or No Deal viewers have been left baffled as a contestant broke down in tears during a recent episode of the ITV game show.

A plethora of potential players had joined host Stephen Mulhern on the show in the hopes of being picked to take on the Banker and win a huge jackpot.

During he filming process, the contestant all live together in a H๏τel until a number of them have finally been chosen to have a go at the game.

During their stint temporarily living together, the players forge strong bonds, with stories of their friendship often being relayed on the show.

However, as air hostess Kelly was selected to face the Banker, her friendship with fellow contestant Carolynne was clear to see as the latter began to cry at her pal’s big moment.

As Carolynne struggled to hold back the emotions and was seen wiping her eyes with a tissue, she later told Stephen that she ‘thought Kelly would never get picked’ and that she was ‘so happy for her’, reports The Express.

Despite the seemingly sweet moment, viewers at home were not impressed and branded the tears ‘a bit much’.

Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, they penned: ‘How much time do these contestants spend together? Crying seems a bit much. #dealornodeal. Reminds me of Survivor after a week.

‘They must feed the #DealOrNoDeal contestants double sided doves and gin backstage, cos their always either loved up or crying.’

Meanwhile, Kelly ended up shedding a tear herself later in the game as she revealed her lucky charm.

As she fished the item out of her bra, causing the host to look away, Kelly revealed a carved wooden heart which was given to her in a church shortly after her sister pᴀssed away.

And it seemed that the lucky charm did the trick as Kelly went on to play a blinder of a game, going on to beat the Banker and bag an impressive 29,860 – despite only having £5000 in her box.

Viewers were quick to heap praise on Kelly, applauding her for a game well played.

They wrote: ‘What a game!!!!! Well done Kelly dealing at the perfect time and leaving with £29,260’

‘It was £5k the whole time, but with £29,860, Kelly has made the right call & it’s the banker that has had a turbulent flight’

‘Fair play Kelly. Kept her cool’; ‘Kelly played a blinder – and walks away with £29,860!’

It comes after Deal Or No Deal viewers called out the show after spotting a clue that the selection process isn’t as random as it appears.

Each episode, a group of contestants join host Stephen on the ITV show, with each hoping they’ll be chosen for the chance to bag the huge £100,000 cash prize.

The show sees their names put up on a big screen, with one contestant selected at random to face the Banker in that episode.

However, fans have questioned the authenticity of the process after they spotted a key clue which suggested that the random selection is ‘fake’.

Eagle-eyed watchers have noticed that the chosen contestant’s family and friends are always conveniently sitting right behind them in the front row of the audience.

Throughout the episode, a player would often consult their loved ones for advice and support, with the friends and family often helping them make big decisions – so it’s vital that they are sitting close by.

But this had led to fans questioning whether the selection is therefore staged, with many rushing to X, formerly known as Twitter, to voice their thoughts.

They penned: ‘Just wondering if it’s a surprise who‘s playing how come their family/friends are there’

‘Why do the #DealOrNoDeal contestants act shocked when their names picked out to play when a relative is sitting in the audience? , or is the audience made up of loads of relatives of the contestants?’

‘#DealOrNoDeal silly question, but if it is a surprise which contestant is picked, how is their family member always in the right place in the audience?’

‘If contestant is chosen at random, how come friends/family are already there and front row?’; ‘You can tell it’s all fake…cos pretty much every contestant all act the same way.’
