🥺💗 SHE SPENT HER CHILDHOOD SEARCHING FOR ANSWERS — NOW CHARLOTTE FINALLY KNOWS WHY 🌷✨

Before little Charlotte Whiting was even born, doctors knew she was facing several complex medical challenges.

Born at around 37 weeks, Charlotte spent her first 72 days in the NICU. Before she was even a week old, she underwent surgery involving her kidneys. A month later, she needed another major procedure to remove a liver cyst and reconstruct much of her gastrointestinal tract. 🏥💗

As she grew, the medical challenges continued. Charlotte eventually underwent 18 operations and procedures, while doctors monitored problems involving her heart, kidneys, liver, gallbladder and digestive system, along with a cleft lip and palate.

For years, her family searched for an explanation.

Then whole genome sequencing finally provided an answer: Charlotte was diagnosed with MED12-related disorder, also known as Hardikar Syndrome, an ultra-rare genetic condition that could explain many of the health challenges she had faced since birth. At the time, she was believed to be only the ninth documented person in the world with the condition. 🌷🙏

For her parents, finally having a diagnosis brought something they had been missing for years — understanding.

And despite everything she has been through, Charlotte remains a lively, loving little girl and a devoted big sister to Liam and Eden. 💕👧👦
