The Sheffield case involving newborn Baby S has taken another major step after a forensic post-mortem confirmed that the infant d#ied from st@b wounds.

Police were initially called to a property on Holywell Heights, in the Wincobank area of Sheffield, shortly before 6am on August 30 following a report concerning the safety of a newborn baby. Officers searched the property and found the baby, who was later pronounced d#ead at the scene.

The subsequent court proceedings revealed further details about the discovery. Prosecutors told Sheffield Magistrates’ Court that Baby S had suffered 33 wounds from 15 separate incidents and was found wrapped in a towel inside a blue bag, which had been placed on top of a washing machine in an outhouse.

Four adults — Andrea Skopova, 20, Peter Horvath Jr, 19, Peter Horvath Sr, 38, and Nina Horvathova, 37 — have been charged with m#rder. They also face allegations of causing or allowing the d#ath of a child and attempting to pervert the course of justice. A 15-year-old girl has separately been charged with perverting the course of justice and cannot be named because of her age.

Seven people were initially arrested in connection with the investigation. Two women, aged 26 and 37, were subsequently released on bail, while the five remaining defendants were remanded in custody.

The case has now moved beyond the initial investigation stage. At Sheffield Crown Court, the four adults and the teenage defendant were remanded in custody, with a provisional trial date set for April 2027. Their next appearance is scheduled for October 2.

Police have also urged the public not to speculate about the circumstances of Baby S’s d#ath or post unverified information online. Detectives say protecting the integrity of the legal process is essential as they continue piecing together what happened at the Holywell Heights property.

For now, the court has established important facts about the discovery and the medical findings, but it has not determined the individual responsibility of any defendant. All of those charged remain enтιтled to a fair trial.
