For most babies, reaching for a favorite toy is something that comes naturally. For little Shawn Keller, it has been a journey of creativity, determination, and love. 🥹💙

Shawn was born without fully developed hands and feet because of amniotic band syndrome, a condition that can affect the development of a baby’s limbs before birth. His mother, Dezeray, first learned about his condition during her 20-week anatomy scan. 👶💙

But Shawn has never let his differences stop him from discovering the world around him. ✨

Recently, something as simple as a set of wrist rattles gave Shawn the chance to play with toys independently for the first time. Watching him discover that new ability became an incredibly special moment for his family. 🥰🧸

“Seeing him play on his own brought us so much happiness,” his family shared. 💗

Born at 36 weeks, Shawn now receives care from specialists at Riley Children’s Health, including teams in orthopedics, developmental pediatrics, and pulmonology. He uses prosthetic legs, crawls, practices shifting his weight, and continues reaching important developmental milestones at his own pace. 🌟🦿

His journey is not about doing things the way everyone else does them.

It is about discovering his own way. 💙

With adaptive tools, therapy, prosthetics, and the unwavering support of his family, Shawn is learning that there is more than one way to play, explore, grow, and experience childhood. 🧸✨
