đź’” Questions Remain After Autopsy Provides Few Answers in the Death of Elena Moore

Authorities continue searching for answers in the death of 39-year-old personal trainer Elena Moore after preliminary autopsy findings did not reveal an immediate cause of death.

Moore was found deceased on Wednesday beneath a bridge in a wooded area near Lexington, South Carolina, nearly a week after she was last seen leaving a local gym. While investigators have confirmed her idenтιтy, officials say additional testing will be necessary before determining how she died.

According to investigators, Moore signed into a Planet Fitness in Lexington at approximately 6:40 p.m. on June 11, a gym she was known to visit regularly. Surveillance footage later captured her walking across the parking lot of a nearby Publix supermarket at about 9:17 p.m.

She was wearing an olive-green hoodie and black athletic pants and was reportedly seen heading toward a wooded area located behind a Lowe’s store.

After Moore was reported missing on June 12, authorities launched an extensive search effort. On Wednesday, investigators discovered a body matching her description in a wooded area near the Fourteen Mile Creek Trail, close to Old Cherokee Road and North Lake Drive. The Lexington County Coroner’s Office officially identified the remains as Moore on Friday.

An autopsy conducted the following day did not identify an immediate cause of death, according to officials.

The coroner’s office reported that there were no visible signs of traumatic injury. Investigators found no evidence of gunsH๏τ wounds, stab wounds, blunt force trauma, strangulation, bruising, lacerations, or other external injuries.

As a result, the cause and manner of death remain undetermined pending further examination.

Officials stated that additional evaluation will include toxicology testing, histological studies, and a review of Moore’s medical history. Further information is expected once those analyses have been completed.

Moore’s body was found underneath a concrete bridge approximately half a mile from the Publix parking lot where she was last captured on surveillance video.

Local resident Joe Tonsing, who lives near the area where Moore was found, expressed surprise at the discovery.

“They found her under the bridge, and I thought, well, now, has she been sleeping there? She was sleeping somewhere, and she was eating somewhere,” he told local media.

Following the discovery, the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) confirmed that it had joined the investigation to á´€ssist local authorities.

Questions surrounding Moore’s disappearance have continued to grow, particularly among friends who described her behavior in the weeks leading up to her disappearance as unusual and out of character.

Sondra Rachelle Campbell, a close friend, told NewsNation that she believes additional questions remain unanswered.

“There has been issues. They were trying to separate,” Campbell said while discussing Moore’s marriage.

Campbell also disputed suggestions that Moore may have intentionally harmed herself, stating that she believed her friend was frightened and facing significant challenges before her disappearance.

“I think my friend was struggling for her life. I think she was literally afraid for her life,” Campbell said.

Another friend, Lauren Beasley, told Fox News that Moore had been unusually absent from social media during the weeks before she vanished.

“She is very active on social media, so her going radio silent for the last month is out of character,” Beasley said.

Additional attention has focused on an incident that reportedly occurred about a week before Moore disappeared. According to reports, a Ring doorbell camera captured Moore outside an apartment complex where witnesses said she appeared confused and was behaving unusually.

Resident Sarah Burleson told reporters that Moore approached her apartment while apparently pretending to be a DoorDash delivery driver. According to Burleson, Moore accepted a food delivery from the actual driver and then personally delivered the order to Burleson’s partner.

“Something seemed very off, and I really hope she turns up safe and sound,” Burleson recalled before Moore’s body was found.

“For the past week, we thought it was a crazy DoorDash experience.”

As investigators await toxicology and laboratory results, many questions surrounding Elena Moore’s final days remain unanswered. Authorities have not yet announced a cause of death, and the investigation remains ongoing.

For Moore’s family and friends, the hope now is that the additional testing will provide clarity about what happened and help bring answers after a disappearance that has left a community searching for understanding.
