💔 Life Sentence After Fatal Range Rover Attack on E-Bike Rider Shocks Bournemouth

A violent street attack in Bournemouth has ended with a life sentence after a woman was convicted of deliberately targeting and killing a young e-bike rider in a case that has left a community in shock.

Zoe Treadwell, 36, was found guilty of the murder of 28-year-old Joey Johnstone following an incident on April 9 last year. Prosecutors told the court that the attack was not accidental but part of a sustained and escalating personal feud that had already involved threats and intimidation.

According to evidence presented at Winchester Crown Court, Treadwell drove a Range Rover at speeds of up to 75mph through residential streets while pursuing two e-bike riders, including Johnstone and another man, Danny Singleton.

The court heard that Johnstone suffered catastrophic head injuries and multiple fractures after being struck during the pursuit. Singleton survived the incident without serious physical harm.

Prosecutors said the attack stemmed from an ongoing conflict involving Treadwell and her former partner, Joshua Lovell. Investigators stated that she mistakenly identified Johnstone as Lovell and directed her vehicle toward him in a deliberate act of violence.

Detective Inspector Mark Jenkins of Dorset Police described the incident as a calculated and dangerous ᴀssault, emphasizing that Treadwell showed disregard for the safety of everyone in the area.

Following the fatal collision, authorities said Treadwell later involved co-defendant Jonjay Harrison in a subsequent violent incident on May 1. That attack targeted another individual, Free Jenkins, and resulted in severe injuries, including the loss of a leg after being struck deliberately.

Harrison, 25, was also convicted and received a 32-year prison sentence for his role in the second attack, along with a conviction for possession of a knife in a public place.

During sentencing, Mr Justice Linden described the killing of Joey Johnstone as an act carried out with complete indifference to human life. He noted that Treadwell made no effort to seek help after the collision and used her vehicle as a weapon.

The judge told the court that Johnstone was a well-loved young man whose death had caused profound and lasting devastation for his family. He left behind a partner, Sophie Quinn, and three children, who now face life without him.

In emotional victim impact statements, Johnstone’s family described overwhelming grief. His partner said her life had been permanently changed, while his mother remembered him as a kind and deeply loved son.

Following the verdict, members of the public gallery reportedly reacted with strong emotion as the sentence was delivered, reflecting the anger and heartbreak surrounding the case.
