💔 He Went to Pre-K on Friday. He Never Came Home: Texas Family Faces Unimaginable Loss

Four-year-old Roman Baker went to pre-K on August 28 expecting an ordinary Friday. By the end of the day, his parents were facing a reality no parent should ever have to hear.
Roman had suddenly collapsed at school. Despite efforts to save him, he could not be revived.

A family in Frisco, Texas, is trying to comprehend a loss that happened with devastating speed.

Roman reportedly collapsed at his pre-K school on August 28. According to his family, emergency efforts were made to save him, but medical teams were unable to revive the four-year-old.

His parents, Katie and Lita, say they still do not have answers about what caused their son to collapse.

They remember Roman as a healthy, bright and energetic little boy — a “bright, bubbly, light-filled little chatterbox” whose presence filled their home.

Now, he is not coming home.

“This is my 4 year old Roman. He died on Friday,” Lita wrote in a heartbreaking message.

“Everyone, we are so scared. We are in so much pain. It was sudden, and unexpected.”

But the tragedy is even more difficult to comprehend when considering what this family had already endured this year.

In February, Katie lost her mother, Sharon.

Just two months later, Lita unexpectedly lost her own mother.

Both women had already experienced the devastating pain of losing their mothers in 2026.

Now, only months after those losses, they are facing another unimaginable goodbye — this time to their four-year-old son.

That means three profound family losses in less than seven months. 💔

And in the middle of this heartbreak is Roman’s six-year-old brother, Reid.

His parents say Reid is on the autism spectrum, and the family must now help him understand life without his little brother while they themselves are struggling to comprehend the same reality.

For a family already overwhelmed by grief, the days ahead will be incredibly difficult.

There are questions they cannot yet answer.

There are memories they will never get to create.

And there is an empty place in their home where Roman should be growing, laughing and talking.

Lita expressed the family’s pain in just two words:

“This hurts.”
