In 2013, five-year-old Safyre Terry survived a devastating apartment fire in Schenectady, New York. Her father died while protecting her, along with three of her siblings. Safyre suffered burns over much of her body and later lost her right hand and left foot. 💔🏥

Years of surgeries and recovery followed, but Safyre continued moving forward with remarkable courage. In 2015, when she was eight, her aunt Liz gave her a small metal card tree. Safyre had one simple wish: she wanted to fill it with Christmas cards. 🎄💗

Her story was shared online — and the response was far beyond anything the family could have imagined.

Cards began arriving from across the country and around the world. The local post office was soon handling tens of thousands of pieces of mail, with contemporary reports putting the December total at more than 300,000 cards. 📬🌎✨

But the kindness didn’t stop there. Donations and gifts poured in, and Safyre’s family later used surplus items to help other children in hospitals and shelters. 🌷🙏
