🚨💔🚗 HE WAS DAYS AWAY FROM TURNING 20… A WEEKEND TRIP TO MONTEREY BECAME HIS FINAL JOURNEY 🕊️😭

A weekend that was supposed to be filled with cars, music and memories ended in tragedy for a group of East Bay friends after a crash in Monterey claimed the life of 19-year-old Jerrod Chapman-Marshall of Livermore.

Jerrod was just one week away from his 20th birthday.

He had traveled to Monterey with three friends for Monterey Car Week, an event that appealed to one of his greatest pᴀssions: cars. 🚗❤️

Instead of returning home to celebrate his birthday, Jerrod’s family is now grieving the loss of their only son.

According to Monterey police, officers responded Sunday afternoon to Barnett Segal and Iris Canyon Road, where a silver BMW convertible had crashed into a tree.

Investigators believe the vehicle had been driven recklessly before the collision.

All four people inside the BMW were hospitalized.

Jerrod was the only pᴀssenger who did not survive.

Police identified the driver as 20-year-old Sebastian Feliciano of Dublin.

Authorities said Feliciano’s blood alcohol level was .13 following the crash, and police are pursuing manslaughter charges as the investigation continues.

An arrest or criminal allegation, however, does not establish guilt, and the case will proceed through the legal system.

For Jerrod’s mother, Bonnie Marshall, the legal process is secondary to the devastating reality she received that night.

She said she received a late-night phone call and could immediately sense something was wrong.

The questions being asked on the other end of the line made her fear the worst.

“I could already kind of tell in the way that he was asking me questions… like my son was gone,” she recalled.

Then came the words that changed her life.

“And he told me he was gone.” 💔

Jerrod was her only child.

He was 19 years old.

He loved cars and music, was learning a new trade and had already begun thinking seriously about the future he wanted.

His mother said her son had plans to build a life for himself and his girlfriend.

“He had a plan for his whole life to take care of him and his girlfriend,” she said.

Those plans now exist only in memories.

Jerrod’s girlfriend, Lorrie Jacobsen, had known him since they were both children.

The two first met in fourth grade, making his sudden loss even more difficult for her to comprehend.

Jacobsen remembered the weekend Jerrod left for Monterey.

She had nearly convinced him to stay home.

“I almost convinced him not to go that Saturday, but he looked so excited I couldn’t keep him there,” she said.

At the time, there was no reason to believe the trip would end differently from any other weekend.

Jerrod was simply excited to spend time with friends and enjoy something he loved.

Now Jacobsen is left wishing she could return to that moment.

“But I’d do anything to go back in time and just keep him with me.” 😭

For Jerrod’s mother, the grief is complicated by the knowledge that another young family is also dealing with the consequences of the crash.

Marshall said she believes accountability is important, but she also expressed compᴀssion for Feliciano’s family.

“I don’t think my son and my family is the only one who suffered here,” she said.

She acknowledged that Feliciano also lost a friend and that his family now faces the consequences of what happened.

Her response reflects the complicated emotions that can follow a tragedy involving young people whose lives were suddenly changed forever.

Investigators have not released a complete reconstruction of the crash or publicly established the vehicle’s exact speed.

What authorities have confirmed is that the BMW left the roadway and struck a tree, and that Feliciano allegedly had a blood alcohol level above the legal limit.

The investigation remains ongoing.

But for Jerrod’s loved ones, the most important part of his story isn’t the crash.

It’s the young man he was becoming.

The son who was his mother’s only child.

The boyfriend who had known Lorrie since childhood.

The young man who loved cars and music.

The teenager who was learning a trade and making plans for his future.

The 19-year-old who should have been celebrating his 20th birthday next week.

Instead, his family is preparing to say goodbye. 💔🕊️

Jerrod’s life was far more than the final moments that took him away.

Please leave a ❤️ for Jerrod and keep Bonnie, Lorrie, his friends and everyone who loved him in your prayers. 🙏

And if you know someone who is driving, remind them: one decision behind the wheel can change countless lives forever. 🚗❤️

Happy birthday in heaven, Jerrod. You should have had so many more. 🕊️💔
