🚨🌵 FBI Returns to Search Near Nancy Guthrie’s Home as Six-Month Mystery Continues 💔

More than six months after 84-year-old Nancy Guthrie disappeared from her home in the Catalina Foothills near Tucson, Arizona, federal agents have reportedly returned to search the surrounding desert. 🌵
A neighbor living just a few houses away told reporters she recently saw individuals she recognized as FBI personnel searching the area in the days leading up to the six-month mark of Nancy’s disappearance.
While a spokesperson for the Pima County Sheriff’s Department said the local task force had not recently conducted a search there, the neighbor believed the agents were the same personnel previously involved in the investigation.

The FBI has not publicly commented on the reported activity.
Nancy Guthrie, the mother of NBC “Today” co-host Savannah Guthrie, is believed by investigators to have been abducted from her home during the early morning hours of February 1, 2026.
She was last seen the previous evening after family members dropped her off following a gathering.
Investigators later concluded that she had been taken against her will after discovering blood on the front porch that matched Nancy’s DNA.
Additional evidence reportedly included:
A disconnected doorbell camera 📹
Signs of a struggle
Other forensic evidence collected at the scene
Nancy, who was described as mentally sharp but physically vulnerable due to a pacemaker and the need for daily heart medication, has not been seen since. 💔
Former Pima County Sheriff’s lieutenant and retired SWAT commander Bob Krygier believes there could be several reasons investigators have returned to the area.
One possibility is that detectives are following up on new information.
Another is that they’re re-examining locations previously searched with fresh eyes.
He also pointed to the impact of Arizona’s recent monsoon season. ⛈️
According to Krygier, weeks of heavy rainfall may have significantly changed the desert landscape.
Floodwaters can move:
🪨 Rocks
🌿 Vegetation
🚗 Even vehicles
As the terrain shifts, evidence that was once hidden could become exposed—or relocated to entirely new areas.
From the beginning, the investigation has involved multiple agencies, with the Pima County Sheriff’s Department leading the case alongside substantial ᴀssistance from the FBI and other law enforcement partners.
Early in the investigation, authorities released doorbell camera footage showing a masked, armed individual approaching Nancy’s home on the night she disappeared.
The person appeared to tamper with the camera before it stopped recording.
Investigators described the individual as:
Male
Approximately 5’9″ to 5’10”
Average build
Carrying a black backpack 🎒
Since then, investigators have searched large areas of desert, reviewed thousands of surveillance videos, and analyzed numerous DNA samples collected during the investigation.
Some of that forensic evidence reportedly contains complex DNA mixtures, making analysis especially challenging. 🧬
As the investigation approached the six-month anniversary in late July 2026, the Pima County Sheriff’s Department publicly released the full contents of two alleged ransom notes that had been mailed to local media shortly after Nancy disappeared.
The first note, reportedly sent around February 2 and addressed to Savannah Guthrie, claimed Nancy was:
“Safe but scared.”
It demanded $4 million in Bitcoin by February 5, increasing to $6 million if payment was not received by February 9.
The letter also referenced specific details inside Nancy’s home, including:
⌚ A white smartwatch on the bedroom floor
💡 A damaged backyard floodlight
A second note, mailed several days later and addressed to the Guthrie family, claimed the captors had not realized the seriousness of Nancy’s heart condition.
The writer alleged that she had pᴀssed away shortly after being taken because of heart-related medical issues and stated she had been “buried in nature.”
Authorities have not verified those claims.
Investigators have instead focused on the unique writing style found within the letters.
According to law enforcement, the notes contain distinctive patterns involving:
Word choice
Sentence structure
Phrasing
Officials hope someone familiar with the author’s writing may eventually recognize those characteristics.
Authorities have also stated that while some ransom communications received during the investigation were determined to be fraudulent extortion attempts, others remain under active investigation. ⚖️
Throughout the past six months, Savannah Guthrie and her family have continued making emotional public appeals for information.
Marking the six-month milestone, Savannah described the family’s experience as an ongoing:
💔 “Agony”
💔 “Nightmare that will not end”
She urged anyone with information—no matter how small—to come forward, saying it is never too late to do the right thing and expressing hope that her mother can still be brought home.
The family has helped establish a reward totaling more than $1.2 million, which remains unclaimed. 💵
Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos has repeatedly emphasized that this is not a cold case.

Some recent tips led investigators to conduct searches near the U.S.-Mexico border, although those efforts reportedly did not uncover evidence connected to Nancy’s disappearance.
As of early August 2026:
No arrests have been announced.
Nancy Guthrie’s whereabouts remain unknown.
The investigation remains active.
Authorities continue asking anyone with information, pH๏τos, videos, or other relevant details to contact the FBI or the Pima County Sheriff’s Department.
Investigators stress that even the smallest piece of information could prove critical in helping solve the case and bring long-awaited answers to Nancy’s family. 🙏🕊️
