🖤 THE LORD’S UNWANTED BRIDE — PART 2

“HE MARRIED ME TO SAVE MY MOTHER… BUT THE GREATEST BETRAYAL WAS HIDING IN HIS OWN CASTLE.” 😱🥀

The gunsH๏τ shattered the silence.

Anne froze as Lord Adrian Blackwood pulled her behind him, his sword flashing in the candlelight.

“Stay close to me,” he ordered.

Outside, soldiers stormed the courtyard. Their leader carried a black banner bearing a symbol Anne recognized immediately.

Her father’s family crest.

But there was something wrong.

Those soldiers weren’t wearing her father’s colors. They wore the crest of a man who had supposedly died fifteen years ago.

Richard Blackwood—Adrian’s own father.

“Impossible,” Adrian whispered.

Anne stared at him. “You said your father was ᴅᴇᴀᴅ.”

“He is.”

“Then why are his soldiers here?”

Adrian didn’t answer.

For the first time since their wedding, Anne saw genuine fear in the eyes of the man everyone called the Black Wolf.

And somehow, she knew the danger was connected to her.

💔 THE FIRST TWIST

As Adrian led her through a hidden pᴀssage beneath the castle, Anne noticed a small silver key hanging around his neck.

The same key appeared in the portrait of his missing first bride.

“Who was she?” Anne demanded.

Adrian stopped.

“Her name was Eleanor. She was the only person who knew where your mother disappeared.”

Anne’s heart pounded.

“Was she your wife?”

“She was supposed to be.”

“Then what happened to her?”

Adrian looked away.

“On the night before our wedding, she discovered a secret about your family. By sunrise, she was gone. Everyone believed she had betrayed me.”

He turned back to Anne.

“But I never believed she ran away.”

Before Anne could respond, a wounded servant stumbled into the pᴀssage and pressed a folded letter into her hand.

“Your mother left this for you,” he gasped. “If the Black Wolf ever married you, you were to receive it.”

Anne’s fingers trembled as she unfolded the letter.

Only one sentence had been written inside:

“Anne, if Adrian tells you he saved me, do not believe him. He was the reason I had to disappear.”

Anne slowly lifted her eyes toward her husband.

Adrian looked as if he had just been sentenced to death.

“Anne,” he said quietly, “there is something you must understand.”

She stepped away from him.

“Did you hurt my mother?”

“No.”

“Then why would she write this?”

“Because she was protecting you from the truth.”

Before he could explain, a second explosion shook the pᴀssage. Dust fell from the ceiling, and the wounded servant collapsed.

Adrian caught Anne’s hand.

“We have to leave. Now.”

But Anne pulled free.

“Not until you tell me everything.”

For a moment, he said nothing.

Then he gave her an answer that changed everything.

“Your mother didn’t disappear because she feared me. She disappeared because she discovered that I was not the rightful heir to Blackwood Castle.”

😱 THE SECOND TWIST

Anne stared at him.

“What does that have to do with me?”

Adrian reached into his coat and produced a faded document bearing a royal seal.

“Your mother was the last living witness to a secret that could destroy my family. And your father has spent fifteen years trying to find her because she possesses proof that the Blackwood fortune was stolen.”

Anne felt the floor shift beneath her.

Her father had told her that her mother died of illness when she was six.

He had made her wear black on the anniversary of her death.

He had even shown her a grave.

“Then whose grave did I visit all these years?” she whispered.

Adrian’s expression darkened.

“Someone else’s.”

Before Anne could ask another question, footsteps echoed behind them.

A woman stepped out of the shadows.

Her silver hair was tied back, and a long scar crossed her cheek. Anne had never seen her before.

Yet the woman wore the same silver pendant Anne had kept since childhood.

The stranger looked at Adrian first.

“You should have told her before the wedding.”

Then she turned toward Anne.

“My child…”

Anne stopped breathing.

That voice.

She remembered it from lullabies, from distant dreams, from the fading memories of a mother she thought she had lost.

“Mother?”

The woman’s eyes filled with tears.

“Yes, Anne. I’m alive.”

Anne rushed forward, but her mother held up a trembling hand.

“Not yet. You must listen carefully. We have very little time.”

She looked at Adrian with unmistakable anger.

“He has told you about the stolen fortune. But he hasn’t told you why your father wanted you married to him.”

Anne turned toward Adrian.

He said nothing.

Her mother continued.

“Your father never intended to use this marriage to protect his family. He wanted you inside this castle because only a bride of Blackwood blood can open the sealed chamber beneath the chapel.”

Anne shook her head.

“But I’m not a Blackwood.”

Her mother’s expression broke.

“Your father lied about that, too.”

🥀 THE THIRD TWIST — AND THE SECRET THAT COULD DESTROY THEM ALL

Before Anne could speak, a bell rang throughout the castle.

Once.

Twice.

Three times.

Her mother went pale.

“No,” she whispered. “They’ve found us.”

A door slammed somewhere above them.

Then a familiar voice echoed through the pᴀssage.

“Anne!”

Her father.

“Come out, my daughter. I have come to take you home.”

Anne’s mother seized her wrist.

“Whatever he promises you, do not go with him.”

But Adrian had already drawn his sword.

“Stay behind me,” he said.

For the first time, Anne saw the truth in his eyes: he wasn’t afraid of losing his castle.

He was afraid of losing her.

Then her father stepped into the pᴀssage, accompanied by armed guards. He looked at Anne, smiled sadly, and held up a small velvet box.

Inside lay a wedding ring identical to the one Adrian had placed on her finger.

“The first marriage,” her father announced, “was never meant to happen.”

Anne stared at him.

“What are you talking about?”

Her father’s smile vanished.

“Adrian was never supposed to marry Eleanor. He was supposed to marry your mother.”

Silence swallowed the pᴀssage.

Adrian lowered his sword.

Anne looked from her father to her mother, then to the man she had married only hours earlier.

Her father took one step closer.

“And now, Anne, the final piece has fallen into place.”

He pointed at Adrian.

“Ask your husband what happened to the child who was born before Eleanor disappeared.”

Adrian’s face turned deathly pale.

Anne slowly looked down at her wedding ring.

Then her mother whispered the words that made Anne’s entire world collapse:

“That child is still alive… and he is standing right in front of you.”

The guards raised their weapons.

Adrian looked at Anne, his voice barely audible.

“Before you decide whether to hate me, you deserve to know who I really am.”

And then the chapel bell rang a fourth time.

A sound no one had heard in fifteen years.

Because beneath Blackwood Castle, the sealed chamber had just opened.
