Authorities in New Jersey are investigating the tragic death of a woman who was found inside her Somerville home with multiple injuries.

Alyne Espinal, 46, was discovered with several wounds to her chest, neck and thigh, according to the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office. She was pronounced ᴅᴇᴀᴅ at the scene.

Her husband, Ignacio Espinal, 55, was later arrested in West New York, New Jersey, as investigators continue working to understand what happened.

Police responded to a 911 call shortly before 7:30 p.m. Thursday after receiving a report expressing concern for the welfare of a woman living on Brookside Avenue.

Officials emphasized that the investigation remains ongoing and that the details released so far are preliminary. Investigators are continuing to interview witnesses, examine physical and electronic records, and analyze forensic evidence as they work to piece together the events surrounding Alyne’s death.
