Nearly four months after a devastating baseball accident changed 12-year-old Xavier Taylor’s life, his family and the Maple Shade community are continuing to hold onto hope.

On Saturday night, friends, neighbors, teammates and community members gathered at Karcher Field in Maple Shade, New Jersey, for a special night of prayer and support for Xavier. The gathering reflected the deep bond that has grown around the Taylor family since the accident in May.

Xavier was injured on May 26 while warming up before a championship baseball game. He was struck by a baseball and suffered a critical medical emergency before being taken to Cooper University Hospital.

Since then, his recovery has been closely followed by his family and supporters across the community

In the latest update shared by Xavier’s father, Gregory Taylor, there are signs that have given the family renewed hope. Gregory said his son has gained weight and that when the family looks at him now, they can see the Xavier they know rather than the frail child they saw during the earliest weeks after the accident.

According to the latest reporting, Xavier remains on a ventilator but has been moved from the hospital to a short-term care facility. His family continues to focus on his recovery while appreciating every sign of progress along the way.

The community’s support has remained remarkable.

Since the accident, people have gathered for prayer vigils, organized fundraisers and created tributes for Xavier. His No. 6 jersey has become a familiar symbol of support, while landmarks in the region have also been lit in blue in his honor. More than $100,000 has reportedly been raised to help the Taylor family.

For the Taylor family, the journey is still far from over. But each small improvement carries enormous meaning.

And once again, the people of Maple Shade have shown Xavier and his family that they are not facing this difficult journey alone. 💙🙏
