At just three months old, Mohammad Al-Khatib has already endured more hardship than many people experience in a lifetime.

His life changed forever during a devastating airstrike that claimed the life of his mother while she was breastfeeding him.

Amid the chaos, the infant was pulled from the scene with life-threatening injuries and rushed to the hospital, where doctors immediately began fighting to save his life. 💔

Mohammad had suffered a severe blast injury to his left leg.

Despite multiple surgeries and every effort to preserve the limb, doctors were ultimately forced to perform a below-the-knee amputation in order to save his life.

But that was only the beginning of his medical journey.

He also sustained extensive burns and serious injuries to his left hand.

According to his medical team, the damage to his hand has continued to worsen, raising concerns that additional surgery—and possibly another amputation—may become necessary if his condition cannot be stabilized.

Doctors have also warned that further procedures on his injured leg may be required as he continues to heal.
