💔 TEXAS FATHER’S COLON CANCER ADVANCES TO STAGE 4 IN JUST THREE MONTHS

‼️ A Brownsville father thought he was beginning the fight of his life against Stage 3 colon cancer. Three months later, his family learned the disease had advanced to Stage 4.
💔 Now, Javier Sabido is fighting not only for treatment, but for more time with the wife and three children who give him a reason to keep going.

Javier Sabido, a husband and father from Brownsville, Texas, was diagnosed with aggressive Stage 3 colon cancer on May 4.

Within a week, doctors performed surgery, removing 22 inches of his colon along with the tumor and several polyps.

After roughly a month of recovery, Javier began chemotherapy in June, hoping treatment would give him a chance to move forward.

Instead, just a few months after receiving his original diagnosis, his family received devastating news.

Last week, Javier began feeling particularly ill and spent several days in the hospital undergoing additional scans.

The results showed that the cancer had spread to the bone near his right eye socket.

His diagnosis was now Stage 4.

For Javier, the progression has been frighteningly fast. He says the exhaustion has become increasingly difficult, but every day he is reminded of why he cannot give up.

His wife and three children are at the center of that fight. 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦❤️

Javier and his family are now hoping to obtain another medical opinion in Houston, including from specialists at MD Anderson.

But the family says they are facing another difficult obstacle: insurance coverage.

Javier’s Blue Cross Blue Shield coverage is through the Health Insurance Marketplace, and he says MD Anderson will not accept his particular plan. According to Javier, receiving treatment there would require him to pay as a cash-paying patient.

That means the family is confronting two battles at once—trying to understand how quickly the cancer has progressed while also figuring out how they can afford to pursue every possible medical option.
