💔🚨 SHE TRIED TO WALK AWAY — HE FOLLOWED HER 60 MILES AND HER LIFE ENDED IN A PARKING LOT

PENSACOLA, FLORIDA — Starmichael Tucker was 30 years old when she made a decision that should have been simple: she wanted to end her relationship.

Instead, according to federal prosecutors, that decision triggered a terrifying chain of events that ultimately ended her life.

On Wednesday, August 26, 2026, Charles Carson-Dowdy, 31, was sentenced to life in federal prison for the January 2025 killing of Tucker, his girlfriend.

The sentence came four months after Carson-Dowdy pleaded guilty to multiple federal charges, including cyberstalking, interstate domestic violence, murder involving a firearm and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

According to prosecutors, Carson-Dowdy and Tucker began dating in October 2024. Tucker lived in Pensacola, Florida, while Carson-Dowdy lived approximately 60 miles away in Mobile, Alabama.

Prosecutors said the relationship became increasingly troubling, with Carson-Dowdy allegedly using phones, the internet and rideshare services as part of a pattern of harᴀssment and intimidation.

On January 1, 2025, Tucker attempted to end the relationship.

According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Carson-Dowdy instead ordered an Uber from Mobile to Tucker’s Pensacola home.

Prosecutors allege he arrived carrying a Taurus handgun and additional ammunition despite being legally prohibited from possessing firearms because of a previous felony conviction.

When Tucker returned home, prosecutors said she discovered Carson-Dowdy inside her apartment without permission.

The following evening, around 8 p.m. on January 2, Tucker left the apartment.

Carson-Dowdy allegedly followed her into the parking lot.

According to federal prosecutors, he then 🔫 Tucker in the back. After she fell, prosecutors said he approached her and fired approximately 10 additional times.

In total, authorities said Tucker was struck 14 times.

Prosecutors further alleged that Carson-Dowdy then entered Tucker’s vehicle and ran over her body three times.

Tucker died from her injuries.

She was only 30 years old. 💔🕊️

Carson-Dowdy fled but was later located in Spanish Fort, Alabama. Authorities found him with the handgun inside Tucker’s vehicle.

In April 2026, he pleaded guilty.

Four months later, the court imposed a life sentence that will keep him in federal prison for the remainder of his life.

U.S. Attorney John P. Heekin spoke about the devastating loss suffered by Tucker’s family and friends, emphasizing that they had been robbed of her presence.

Behind the legal charges, however, was a woman who had wanted to move forward with her life.

She was someone’s daughter, someone’s friend and someone with a future still ahead of her.

Her story also highlights how harᴀssment, stalking and controlling behavior can escalate when someone attempts to leave a relationship.

Starmichael should have been able to walk away safely.
